The distance to the gap seems greater than initial appearances would lead one to believe, and doesn't seem to grow any closer no matter how quickly the adventurers move toward it. It feels like hours have passed before the group finds themselves back at the tower, the sunlight just peeking over the edge of the horizon. The dragon that escorted them there is nowhere to be found, and the stone altar at the center of their previous battlefield is now a gaping hole into the empty building.
Traversing through the trapdoor and down the steps, nothing comes after the group, nothing springs out and attacks, and nothing is waiting to surprise them. Somehow, all traces of the demons infesting the place have disappeared entirely. It's another long walk, but back outside there's some activity at least. People were cautiously leaving their houses, milling about nervously in the almost empty streets. None of them show hostility or recognition towards the adventuring group. A representative of the Yuu clan, however, does walk up to them and stammer that their presence is needed at their estate immediately.
As can be expected, for doing the job they had been asked to do, the adventurers each receive a valuable set of trinkets and fineries, valuing upwards of twenty thousand gold pieces. After thanks are given, the head of the Yuu clan, Lord Huere Yuu II, then kindly asks them to be on their way. Except for Yagi, of course. He mentions that they have big plans for him. Something about "great expectations"...
It's hard to say that everyone lived "happily ever after", but, for what it's worth, the world was, at least, a better place thanks to their efforts. So it was written by the lorekeeper, and so it shall be.
