The next day rolls around, the adventurers awakened by the a loud crashing noise reverberating throughout the chamber. In enters the nameless emerald dragon and Errol from an opening in the wall, the giant creature regarding the group sternly. Around her neck is something that looks like the statue they had seen earlier, only much smaller. She motions with her head to follow her, refusing to take 'no' for an answer. Only giving them a few minutes to prepare and get their equipment ready, she urges them along, whether or not they really want to go along with it.

The passage is lit only by the virtue of on of the adventurers carrying a torch. The crystalline walls crumble to powder before the dragon's advance, then reconstruct themselves behind the group as though nothing happened. Errol tries to reassure everyone that everything will turn out okay, but he sounds slightly worried all the same.

"Here," the older dragon states once the group reaches a large yet fairly unremarkable stone disc. Not giving any instruction, the emerald dragon steps onto the disc... And completely vanishes. Errol squeaks instruction in his mother's absence, "Mommy said for me to wait here. You just step on that thing and you go somewhere far, far away."

"Oh, and good luck, everyone!" he adds after the party proceeds to do as instructed. All they see is a bright flash of light before they find themselves lagging behind the emerald dragon in another cavern blackened with soot. It takes a few hours of trekking through the craggy cave to reach an exit. The sun sits high above, indicating it's just past noon, though it's blocked out by a gathering of clouds. Their guide finishes reading something written on a scroll, which disappears into ashes.

"Now we go up. Quickly."

Yanked along by some unseen force, the party is forced into flight at an incredible speed. The wind shrieks around them as they soar up, higher and higher into the sky until they break through the lowest layer of clouds. As if they were on tethers, the party is forced to follow behind the dragon, who bluntly states, "Here's the deal : you all will go kill Wiseman, and I will crush his phylactery when you are finished, but not a moment sooner. It is a convenient conduit for curses that could weaken him and make your job... Possible. If necessary I'll ward off attacks from the sky, but otherwise you are on your own." At the slower, stealthy pace you move at, it's almost evening before the dragon stops, bringing everyone to a halt.

"Tower's below," she drones, pointing to a tiny gray speck below you, surrounded by a sprawling city. "You'll fall from here to there. I'll just do this..." the emerald dragon states, a spectral horde of dragons gripping the adventurers as the "tether" disappears, their bodies no longer held up by it, "...And you will most assuredly land safely, provided you don't steer these things the wrong way. Oh, and good luck."

With that out of the way, the host of phantom dragons dive towards the tower, bearing the group towards their destination. The features of the top of the tower become easier to make out as you continue to fall. Statues stand around an altar in the center, the parapets surrounding it hiding its sinister purpose from anyone watching below.

You are currently in a free-fall, hurtling towards the ground at terminal velocity. Because of the emerald dragon's spell, you will land on your feet, you will not take damage when you land, and the equipment you wear will not be damaged by the fall.

Before we start initiative, you have the option of choose the square that you land in. The places that are restricted are:
-spaces that are completely black. Landing here would mean not landing on the tower
-spaces that have any objects occupying them. This includes the altar and the spaces where the "wings" of the statues are spread
Regardless of whether you do this or not, the villain's going to make his appearance tonight.

The adventurers land hard, but true to the dragon's word, befall no harm for it. The shadows cast by the grotesque statues flicker and distort, the altar before you humming ominously. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. Yet...

"Visitors?" a slow, chilling voice booms, "You have come at a most inconvenient time, we fear."

The shadows whip back and forth before they disperse, a tall, robed figure striding out of the darkness. It regards the adventurers with large, crystalline eyes, its expression unreadable beneath its oblong helmet. "But... We suppose that you shall suffice as an appetizer." The temperature drops several degrees around the... thing standing before you, its body flickering like a candle flame.

"Hmm... You're speechless," it observes, extending its feathered arms theatrically, "Good... Good! That look of shock, of terror and depair that graces one's face when they realize all hope is gone... It's so delicious!"

Without waiting for a response, the creature glides across the ground and stands close to one of the larger statues, a reptilian figure wielding a pair of menacing blades. It points at Yagi, and the knight suddenly feels a heavy weight crushing his spirits. "Now show us... Your despair." Yagi and Lia suddenly vanish into smoke, their bodies sent hurtling through the Far Realm, their eyes and ears subjected to the horrors populating the plane. When they return to the tower in a burst of light, they find they have switched places with each other, and are left very much out of it. Yagi's shadow twists beneath him and forms into a maw that tries to consume him, and the knight can feel its fangs digging into his flesh.

With a low, sinister chuckle, Wiseman's voice reverberates with power as he commands, "Servants! Let us butcher these interlopers and feast on their spirits!" The statues in the air shudder, bits of dust and debris dislodged as though they were shaken by something. Suddenly, the one nearest Fays crumbles as a menacing figure advances on him. One of the creature's swords starts to crackle with energy before slicing into Fays and delivering a nasty shock. Fays is left feeling numb with pain from the electrocution. The thing whirls its swords around itself like a vortex, a thunderclap resounding as the bard is hit by something unseen.

-Information on Wiseman requires a successful Religion or History check.
-Information on the Stormwarden requires a successful Arcana check.
-You can’t go past the walls surrounding you, but you can end your position in a square not completely obscured (in this instance you’d have your back to the wall).
-Determining where some of the remaining enemies are will require a perception check to beat their stealth.
-A creature subjected to Damning Hex takes an additional 1d6 psychic and necrotic damage when hit by Wiseman’s attacks each turn. If Wiseman has concealment against such a creature, they grant combat advantage to him.
-Stormwarden’s Blade Frenzy deals 5 damage to an adjacent creature of its choosing when it ends its turn, as long as it is capable of taking opportunity actions

Walala : From what you've gathered, the character called "Wiseman" likes to throw his enemies about the battlefield with his attacks, then attack them when they're all bunched up. It turns friend against each other, and gains various advantages against creatures subjected to its hexing. Those who fall before him may be reborn as his puppets until their strings are cut. If he moves far enough without teleporting, he can conceal himself from his foes, and shrugs off bad effects quicker. He is a level 10 Solo Controller, and he resists psychic and necrotic damage. His weakness is radiant damage.

The Stormwarden deals extra damage if it moves far enough, and hurts those who end their turns closest to it. It keeps troublesome opponents away by threatening them with a riposte if they pursue it, while cutting up creatures in melee with its two swords. It is a level 9 skirmisher.

Thanks to his captain's hat, Yagi easily shakes off the disorienting effects of forced teleportation.

He over-confidently swaggers over, mocking the ineffectiveness and futility of the Wiseman's actions with every step. As the enemies begin to approach, he immediately takes up a battle stance, and quickly cleaves into the gullible prey with his sword. Injury to insult.

Wiseman slumps in Yagi's direction and staggers closer before the knight slashes at both him and the Stormwarden. Both of them look quite out of it right now.

Yagi's vigilant watch tells him some of the statues have been moving around, shifting on their pedestals as if waiting for the chance to strike. Perhaps all of them are hostile.

To affirm this, one of the pillars collapses as the creature perched on top takes to the skies. Its body is black and shiny with sharp edges all over. Diving at the injured bard, it rakes its claws across Fays' skin, subjecting it to its vengeful vigilance.

Walala is one of the last to notice what's going on, since she's in the back. She waves her wand around while firing her handbow with magic energies to combat the Wiseman after moving nearer (but staying a good distance away from some other things). Arcane barbed wire wraps itself around the Wiseman, digging into his elderly and smelly and liver spotted flesh. Gross. She then tosses an infusion at Fays.

Barbs of steel dig into the lich's body as an animated wire constricts his body. Walala manages to bring Fays out of the red with a healing infusion. As if in response to their master being under attack, the remaining statues dive into the fray and attack. The last one poises itself near Kadol, reverting back to stone as it stores up power.

Fays channels arcane energy through his flailing and swipes at his foes. He misses a couple of his targets, but smashes the stormwarden in the face with a resounding strike. Wiseman shakes its head slowly, letting out a sinister chuckle, "So this is how you butchered our servants. Such strong spirits... Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm... The delights never cease." As its master speaks, the stormwarden lashes out at Yagi and Rock with its twin swords, but only manages to land a hit on the barbarian.

Kadol slowly pulls out one of the powerful staffs she found, and looks above the gathered creatures. "Tha blood tha you spilled cries out for justice!"

At that command, blood begins to rain down from the sky, searing the invoker's foes with divine pain. Rock, Fays, and Yagi, however, are spared the wrath of the blood, and a few droplets land on their weapons, which begin to glow with sacred power.

Satisfied, the dwarf retreats from the heat of the fray a bit, then drops the expended staff to assume a more defensive stance.

The torrent of blood that rains down on battlefield burns away at Kadol's enemies, reducing many of them to rubble and leaving the rest looking vulnerable. The Stormwarden reacts to the death of its allies by slashing at Yagi with a vicious attack from its sword. Yagi's tattoo burns and incites him to attack the lich with a powerful swing. Once Kadol tries to reposition herself, Wiseman lashes out with a concealed weapon, and Yagi slashes him in kind, knocking him to the ground. Kadol seems to waver in place before appearing in a nearby space, but other than taking heavy damage is in no way impeded in her movements.

Under Yagi's brutal assault, Wiseman's star-like flesh is hacked into chunks, swirling purple blood leaking from its wounds. And yet the... thing refuses to stop chuckling.

"So... You fancy yourselves heroes, do you?" it intones, "I can't wait to see that resolve of yours crumble under this onslaught."

The pool of blood bubbles and boils, congealing in a space next to Wiseman as it starts to smoke. A wispy claw emerges from the mire, followed by a shadowy dragon's face. The thing "claws" its way out, appearing insubstantial as smoke. With a loud roar, the dragon leans back and breathes choking red smoke at the adventurers, the smog carrying the sensation of claws tearing at their necks, dragging them down. A second puff engulfs them, but the third is interrupted by Kadol's divine rebuke pushing it out of range. When the haze clears, Wiseman and his cronies are no worse off, but the adventurers that got hit are mostly pushed around and knocked down.

"Together we shall have a feast!"

Rock's brutal onslaught has the Stormwarden near death and Wiseman in stitches. As in he was laughing all the while. "Yes, yes! Hit me all you like, let your anger overtake you!" He seems to be enjoying himself.

The stone gargoyle bolsters itself before it comes out of its stone form, its claws burning red with awesome power. It flies up high, then dives at Yagi and takes a swipe, but the knight's shield manages to deflect the blow. Its attack rips through the stone beneath them effortlessly, leaving behind a deep gouge as a testament to its strength. It continues to menace the knight, flexing its claws meaningfully.

Another gargoyle slashes at Kadol, drawing blood and stinging painfully. It hovers by its quarry, its jagged body gleaming.

Thinking quickly, the shardmind dissolves into shards, confusing the nearby gargolyes, then reappears a short distance away. Still lying on the ground, Walala manages to load her crossbow with alchemist fire and fire it at the nearby goyles, just finding enough time to conjure a psychic, sentry eye near the grouped enemies, and toss a canister full of healing gas near Yagi's feet. Walala's form scatters and reshapes a short distance away, the gargoyles unable to keep her held down. Her alchemists' fire engulfs one of the creatures, who screeches before cracking and crumbling into stones. The other resists the flames entirely and continues to hound Kadol. In spite of the gargoyle's best efforts to keep Fays down, his battle chant makes the big, scary dragon disappear with a loud pop. Yagi puts extra effort into his swing and nails the gargoyle, turning it into rubble. A little reassurance laced with magic is given to Rock and reinvigorates him, pulling him out and away from the fray. He finally shakes off his shaking from the lightning strike, but he's still in very bad shape.

"You think you're so clever," Wiseman drones, his position on the ground making him look far less intimidating. "So full of hope. So sure of victory." The lich's back glows as a a circle of glowing daggers materializes behind him, floating in a spinning motion. He takes one of them and hurls it at Yagi's concealed face, the dagger phasing through the helmet and disappearing. To his credit, Yagi puts up a strong fight, but soon his body stands limp, and he raises his weapon at his allies. Unhindered, Wiseman places a curse on Lia, then disappears in a puff of noxious black smoke that harms all those nearby. Yagi is in bad shape, and Wiseman seems stronger for it, but his grip on the knight's psyche is still firm. And then... He waits.

The Stormwarden moves away without fear, the sound of echoing thunder trailing behind its footsteps. It cleaves into Rock and retreats, taking up a fighting stance as its blades whirl about it. Walala has no defense against the oncoming storm and is slashed across the chest.

"Now, brief mortals," Wiseman's voice suddenly booms, the air crackling with eldritch energy. "Feel the wrath of a thousand angry stars upon you, for this is where hope dies!" The space around Lia twists and distorts as an invisible force suddenly pulls her to the ground, her body feeling so much heavier that the weight threatens to crush her. A black vortex forms beneath her, pinning her down as it threatens to swallow her whole. Her curse is lifted, but she is left battered and bruised, and Wiseman draws upon her anguish for even more power.

"You may have banished the shade dragon for now, but you're only delaying the inevitable," he drawls, "Your bodies grow weak and frail as this battle drags on. It'll be so easy to break them open and devour the spirit within." And with that, Wiseman begins to laugh. A slow, snide, sinister laugh.

Fays shifts to C-10, taking 4 damage from the Obsidian Gargoyle's Cruel Claws, bloodying him
Fays provokes an opportunity attack from the Obsidian Gargoyle, but Yagi's Battle Guardian hits it (after using Heroic Effort), breaking it
Fays misses Shade Dragon with Timeless Trek in Mithrendain, and the dragon is banished to the Feywild (save ends)
Fays heals Rock with Majestic Word for 25 hit points and slides him to D,6
Fays succeeds on his saving throw against ongoing lightning damage

Wiseman uses Dagger of the Mind against Yagi and just barely lands a hit for 13 psychic damage plus 1 psychic and necrotic damage and Yagi is dominated until the end of Wiseman's next turn
Wiseman places Damning Hex on Lia
Wiseman uses Eldritch Shift and teleports to B,10, and all creatures adjacent to him at the start of the teleport take 5 necrotic damage (Ironstone Gargoyle and Stormwarden take an additional 5 damage, and Yagi is now bloodied and no longer subjected to Damning Hex)
Wiseman spends an action point to ready an action

Stormwarden moves to D,7 and attacks Rock with Vengeful Riposte for 10 damage plus 5 thunder damage from its Gathering Storm trait for moving at least 3 squares away, and shifts to F,8. If Rock moves adjacent to the Stormwarden before the start of its next turn, it can repeat the attack as an immediate reaction
Stormwarden's Blade Frenzy deals 5 thunder and lightning damage to Walala

Wiseman uses his readied action to cast Gravity Well, creating a zone in an area burst 1 centered on K,8. Lia is hit for 23 force damage plus 1 psychic and necrotic damage, falls prone, is restrained (save ends), and is bloodied but no longer subjected to Damning Hex

Kadol surges with a sudden burst of resilience, and points at the fallen Wiseman. She says, "Allow me tae show ye just how weak and frail ah've become!"

Raising her staff, Kadol launches two salvos of radiant energy, the beams of light piercing through the obsidian-skinned gargoyles and sending shards of the black rock flying. The stormwarden is also caught by the Invoker's wrath, and explodes with divine light as a heavenly hammer descends on the wretched creature, Moradin delivering the final blow personally.

The dwarf briefly revels in the destruction she's caused, before realizing the knight has lost his will, and moves to confront him.

Kadol's resolve and volley of attacks crush the remaining obsidian gargoyles. A particularly vicious shot hits the stormwarden in the chest, causing him to crumble beneath its force. Wiseman whispers something into Yagi's ear, and his temporary thrall charges Rock with murderous force, hitting him with a brutal slash that undoes much of the healing he was given.

Lia once again finds herself in an unfavorable situation because of that blasted creature called "Wiseman". In reaction to the Gravity well placed on her, Lia is suddenly surrounded by dark mist which obscures her from enemy view. In the mist, she stands up and readies her crossbow. Finally, she lets loose another bolt at the Wiseman, this one being a special bolt aimed to dispel the gravity well on top of her, along with the intent to daze Wiseman before he can do more damage. The bolt seems to connect but she can't seem to shake off the restraints of the formerly active gravity well.

Standing up, Lia conjures a thick smoke that conceals her next attack. The barbarian surges forward and brings a swift end to the remaining gargoyle, bashing it into a heap. Fueled by his bloodlust, he charges toward Wiseman and lays into him with a savage blow, creating a huge gash across his chest. Inky black blood seeps from the wound, the exposed flesh looking more like a night sky than actual skin.

To the west a large rip appears where the dragon was, the creature breaking out of its prison through its sheer strength. In spite of Kadol's best efforts to force it back in, the shade dragon claws its way through the rift, snarling angrily at the assembled adventurers.

Fays' enchanted words bite at Wiseman's psyche, and he lets out a long, low groan of pain. His entire body starts to smoke and crumble as his flesh blackens, the 'stars' winking out. After a few seconds of agonizing pain, Wiseman seems to be put out of his misery, as the only thing left of him is his misshapen helmet.

The shade dragon roars at the adventurers, a reminder that the fight is not yet over.

Some clever repositioning allows Yagi to push the dragon forward with his strike, which leaves it open for Lia's next shot. Rock follows up with a ferocious charge through its midsection. So great is the force behind the shifter's assault that his swing blasts a hole through the dragon's body, bits of gore bursting forth from the exit wound he charges through. Blood sprays forth and forms a large pool, Rock's tracks, and body, covered in the stuff.

The shade dragon gurgles, its body losing its stability as pieces phase in and out of existence. Its vile heart can be seen beating rapidly for an instant before it ceases altogether, and the creature stops moving.
The mist surrounding Lia disperses on its own, and the arcane eye shuts and fades away.

It takes but a few seconds after the demise of the shade dragon for the air to grow heavy and chilly. The tower shakes below as the unnatural voices of the demonic presence within screams in unnatural agony. Bones crunch with a sickening sound, and cracks form in the ground as the foundation rocks. Then Wiseman and the shade dragon's remains vanish entirely, dissolving into black smoke. The altar in the center flares up, surrounded by a ring of heatless flames. A sickly red glow forms as billowing black smoke condenses overhead.

"Ohh? So you've even butchered the great shade dragon?" A familiar voice rings out clearly and with great volume, its tone even chillier than the frozen air. "The delights never cease..." Emerging from the black cloud is an enormous armored insect, very much like a giant mantis, its legs covered in barbs and its arms ending in sharp claws with scythelike. Its face looks very much like Wiseman's helmet shape, eyes glowing a deep blue as they stare ahead, devoid of any humanity. A giant claw smashes and tears into Yagi with savage brutality, chilling him to his core as it tries to force him back. Only by the grace of his new belt is he unmoved by the assault, though his foe seems delighted by the challenge. "What flavor will your souls have?" it intones, before giving a sinister chuckle, snapping its pincers in a menacing fashion.

"A̪̪̰̺ͩ̊l͖̅̈́͐ͦ͆ͮl͈͓̔̔͊̚ ͈̲̙̘̖̜͖ͫ͆̅́͊s̘̠͍̞̙̲̞̻̅̈ĥ̦̯̱̑͆͛a͕ͪ͌͆̽̔̔͋ͅl͇͍͒̒͊͑ͫͫͣͬl̗̖̬̃̒ͯͅ ͉͙̳͍͔̠̝ͧ̿̄͑̚b̬͇ͤ͐̽̽̋̿̚ẹ̼̦͔͚̫ͤ̓͊͊ ̦̖̪̩̱̈́̇̐͐̚o̙̝̪̦͇̝͂ͤn̗ͥ̉e̻ͣ́͐́͐ͅ ͈͈̪̬̰̂̆̔̅͛w̻͍̜͍̺̏͆̂͂̒̃̄i͓̝͔̣̟͓̱̘̞̎ͥ̾̑͑̎̾̐̔t̲̟̱̞ͨ̚h͎̦ͮ̊ͮ̋́͗ ̤̫̩̟̪̫̝̅u͚̭͚̩̩̖̬̹͆̍ͬs̩̯̥̓̆̎̑ͯͦ!̖̟̞̙̯̝̖͆̉͐͆ͣ̉͊ͅ"

Wiseman's Instinctive Harvest allows him to use Extradimensional Claw, which hits Yagi for 18 cold damage and tries to slide him 1 square, but the dwarven belt prevents the sliding. Yagi is now bloodied again.

Religion : The patrons of the warlock's star pact that he tried double-crossing. Now manifested in their hideous true form, sustained by harvesting the souls of every one of the demonic thralls in the tower and all those who wrote their names on the Demon Stone to join the Fraternity of Tharos. A master of deception and fear, "Wiseman" likes to put his enemies where he wants them, then turn them against one another by preying on their desires and insecurities. Those moved by his chessmaster-like rearrangement are sometimes thrown to the ground in prostration.

Wiseman is a level 10 Solo Controller, and is immune to fear and disease. He has resist 10 necrotic, resist 10 psychic, and resist 5 cold. Vulnerabilities are 10 radiant and 5 fire.

Dungeoneering : In addition to the above information, you know the following :
Psychic, illusion, fear, necrotic, and cold powers are all part of his ability set. Wiseman's attacks often involve moving the target around, which causes creatures to fall prone due to his Loss of Will power. You've already witnesses his Instinctive Harvest and Extradimensional Claw attacks, and he has the resiliency to end dazing, stunning and dominating effects like a dragon would. At range, he uses an attack that inflicts progressively worse penalties for each failed save, from a -2 penalty to attacks against him, to being dazed as well, and finally domination. Otherwise he can just force an attack from a target or have them harm themselves instead. He can haunt targets with illusions that leave them distracted, and slide them away in response to a hit, sewing their hearts with malice and spite against their companions. One of his stronger attacks drains the life out of targets and weakens them, while he nourishes himself on their vitality. Finally, when Wiseman is nearing death, he creates a giant zone of frozen spikes that skewer any enemies that fall down into it.
