It missed a total of 8 times on its turn, actually. It really wasn't a bad strategy at all. It just got lucky twice. I cringed when I saw the damage rolls, too. Fortunately, its strategy to increase its size to extend its reach just made it a much bigger target with a -5 penalty to defenses, so disabling it again shouldn't be hard.

Though not letting it get more action points might also be a good idea, too. It looks like it'll still be alive for quite a while.

Besides, the mimics barging in on your battle already in progress is totally something an F.O.E. would do. The bit about the paladin dying was rather creepily accurate if entirely unintended, too.

That was part of devour. It made a number of attacks equal to its number of heads. Acid glob was the first, and you got hit by one of its snap attacks.

There's seriously monsters that can use multiple abilities as a single one? Insane.

Anyway, Sora also has +1 Fort/Will from beast armour if that helps any against the acid attack, and of course my tattoo deals 3 damage if I am bloodied even after Swarm Dispersal.

The flamekiss hydra has a similar ability when it uses hydra fury, allowing it to use bite or flamekiss if flamekiss has recharged.

It hits you even with the bonus to fort/will, and you're not bloodied anymore.

A tiny handful have vents on the top to be used in case of emergency, which have rope ladders attached to them that can be dislodged from inside with a long pole which is conveniently provided nearby.

Reason as follows: Wall blocks line of sight unless you're adjacent to that square. This blocks quite a few!

Moving through the wall costs 3 squares of movement, it harms them for 1d10 + 5 and ongoing 5, and starting turn there does the same.

Therefore, they will have to push back haaaard or forward to avoid getting lulz'd by the wall while I can use my Mind's Eye to get a stat on where they are and pummel them with fire birds.

This level of strategising is possible for Druids what do you guys think.

Since we've never used walls before, I'll just post an excerpt on how they work here.

"A wall fills a specified number of contiguous squares within range, starting from and including an origin square. For instance, a wall 8 fills eight contiguous squares. The squares can be lined up horizontally or stacked vertically. A wall is at least 1 square high. If a particular wall can be higher, the wall's maximum height is specified in the power's description.
A wall's creator can shape the wall within the following limitations:
-Each square of the wall must share a side - not just a corner - with at least one other square of the wall.
-A square of the wall can share no more than two sides with other squares in the wall, but this limitation does not apply when stacking squares on top of each other.
-A solid wall, such as a wall of ice, cannot be created in creatures' squares. In other words, the wall can be used neither to smash or displace a creature nor to cut a Large or larger creature in half.

Let's see, Wall 8? You could place a Wall 3 squares high at C-28, a wall 3 squares high at C-30, and a wall 2 squares high at B-24. That should effectively bisect the encounter and we can stand around and shove enemies back into the wall that try to escape.

This could backfire if Wiseman has a potent ranged attack, but all we really need to do is get someone up there to pin him down in the wall. One of us can go around to the other train entrance if need be. The sensing eye should come in handy too for allowing Sora to bypass the LoS restrictions.

Oh, right. That doesn't quite work. But it can be used to occupy enemy spaces since it's not a "solid" wall, it can be passed through. The first two parts are legal, 3 squares high at C-28, 3 squares high at C-30, it just needs something to connect it at C-29. So I guess two more squares at elevations 1/2 (not ground level) at C-29 instead of B-24.

I mean that Kuro is at 34 HP, which is just barely bloodied. If it means it can kill Kuro, you're saying a regular monster can deal 69 damage out of the door... which means half of the party would die in one turn to it.

We've only ever seen that in /limbo/ on solos and bosses, and this is for an "easy" game for newcomers. You shouldn't be threatening newcomers with the opportunity to die immediately and be removed from the game if they aren't at full health at the start of the round.

In any case I don't honestly feel threatened by these encounters. Swarm dispersal is godlike and so is the Wild Shape Druid. Would play in Limbo if I re-rolled Sariel.

I'm not as concerned, sure we don't burn stuff down super quick but we haven't been in any real danger yet either. I did pick a striker that I knew was slightly underpowered and didn't really try to heavily compensate for it (ie go chargecheese), so it's to be expected. But I knew that going into it, and I picked executioner primarily because you kept insisting that we needed more skills~ I knew what I was getting into when I made the character so I'd still say I got what I expected~

I've been over this with you like a dozen times, and frankly, I don't think it's good to adopt an attitude that makes newer players feel inadequate, after you had them start out at such an advanced level. Ah. I don't think it's anyone's fault and personally I don't think it's really a big problem, we are more or less handling the encounters competently even if a bit slowly~

Well, that last encounter was kinda screwed up by me giving some bad advice, so maybe not THAT competently. Probably would've gone a little easier if the walls were placed differently, but that was entirely my fault.

You can take a short rest in your rooms but by the time your rest finishes, the train starts, so if there's anything you want to do that requires you to be at the station, you'd have to do it before then.

As for the chest, it's still there. But you didn't say you were going to look at it. You said you were going to wait outside, and Raki wanted to talk to you. I figured you'd want to get that out of the way first.

An explanation about boons and alternative rewards :

Boons confer benefits in the same way as magic items, but do not take up slots. You can't really buy them the same way you'd buy other things, they're like blessings that are bestowed upon you by certain events or NPCs. You also can't sell them or upgrade them through traditional means. You need a supernatural entity of some sort for that!

Boons and their powers can be found in the character builder tab "Boons" in the "Shop" section, or in some cases, under the "Other" tab.

Personally, I think the key thing is that when you give everyone something, you make sure it's everyone who gets something. Tainya only questioned Cotton, there's no real motivation to reward her either, but she easily got one of the best boons; Therefore, the justification that "she never met Cotton" seems very flimsy to justify leaving someone out, as does the excuse "she already has everything already".

You wouldn't accept Rin not giving Torinn anything when everyone else does because "he already has everything", especially when you disagree. I can look at the boons list and the first three levels of boons alone have options that are considerably better than nothing and won't suck. No one hates shifting away when surrounded.

Oh, found it. I'm still a little peeved about the matter though;

I submit the Tainya clause against the argument "never met Cotton":
Rin did no more attempt to involve herself in the Cotton ordeal than I did, being included when she "questioned the personnel on-board", which was in itself no aimed movement to be included. Yet, this made her eligible for a reward, even if in roleplay, it makes no sense to reward someone interrogating you for suspicious activity.

Against "there's nothing that doesn't suck", I'll present these boons. Do look over them and consider Sora's various powers and tell me whether it'd be better to have nothing instead:
- Iron Hand Anvil Breaker (Sora has used melee attacks multiple times each encounter)
- Legacy Undying (Everyone likes tempHPs)
- Scar of the Dragon's Altar (See above)
- Spirit of Sand (Control power. Sora is a controller)
- Avandra's Blessing of Confidence (All controllers love saving throw bonuses against disabling effects)
- Avandra's Boon of Escape (Shift 2 might just be what Sora needs to get in place for one of her ranged spells)
- Bahamut's Protective Ward (Swarm Dispersal makes this incredibly useful)
- Battle-Scarred Champion (Everyone loves buffing their healing surge value, and Sora's melee attack is extremely competent)
... do I even need to continue?
