Well, it's all a matter of opinions. I'm sure that if I were to try and argue with you on this, we'd just end up on that same argument of "evil for evil's sake" villains versus sympathetic ones, so there probably isn't much point. I personally find Yasu/Beatrice the most interesting character in the series, and she's really what makes Umineko for me.

Also, just for the record...there were way too many meta-characters in that episode to fit on one TIPS screen, so almost everyone was lumped in with someone else there. If anything, you should feel sorry for poor Sakutaro who didn't even get a profile.

Sakutarou didn't get a profile because he was reduced the existence of just being "Maria's soft toy". Not a character in himself, merely an extension of hers. He's basically just demeaned to the level of a device that Ange uses to communicate with post-trauma Battler.

He was never really the same character in the core arcs. He died in episode 4. Even though he was "revived" by Ange, it's not the same character.

I wasn't really talking about the Sakutaro that Ange 'revived' in the epilogue. It's just that Maria's Sakutaro did appear along with all the other fantasy creatures at the party, and was occasionally mentioned in the big fight scenes that followed, but he was the only one that didn't get a spot on the TIPS screen.

The problem is that there were elements of ep1-4 Beato that just sort of... aren't there anymore in Chiru. But they should be. There's a lot of unresolved sexual tension, a lot of anger, a lot of other things that just don't resonate as well with the sad sack Yasu we're presented with later. All of these things are supposed to be an essential part of Beatrice, and consequently all of those things should be in Yasu as well, even if they're projected out and punched up as part of her fantasies.

Yasu's a prankster at times, but does she have the same edge Beatrice has of being potentially dangerous? She loves, but is she outright possessive? She's hurt and bitter, but only really shown outright angry once. Where's all that fire that Kanon and Beato had? Just because she's not vengeful doesn't mean she can't be pissed!

These elements would've made her a more plausible culprit, instead of so transparently unbelievable as a culprit that the very notion falls flat. I mean, she's redeemable as a character if she's not the culprit, but she's a pathetic replacement for the ep1-4 incarnation who is a genuinely interesting and complicated person.

Kinda sad that the fantasy is more real than the reality.

Well, as you said, most of those traits are more things that Yasu would LIKE to be than what she actually IS. It seems pretty natural to me that the real Yasu is radically different from the confident, cackling witch that she imagined herself as. Well, there wouldn't be any need to imagine such attributes if she already had them anyway.

And I'd say that Chiru Beatrice certainly is 'possessive' of Battler, at least at the end of EP6 and in EP8. And that she's never angry is debatable as well; it seems to me that she has more of a cold and very much internalised anger at the world. Just because she doesn't usually express her true anger (as she doesn't generally express her true self in general, hiding behind various fantasies) certainly doesn't mean it isn't there; the scene where she yells at Genji and Nanjo in the EP7 tea party demonstrate that quite powerfully, and many of Clair's lines have a remarkably bitter quality to them. "I hate...everything" comes to mind.

In a way, one could even say that the Rokkenjima Incident is the final tragic explosion of the anger that Yasu had been keeping so deep inside herself for all that time. There is more to it than that, but I think her (probably quite unjustified, but no less powerful for that) anger at the world is possibly the root cause.

The problem with the Beatrice we see in EP6 and EP8 is that there's no real way to know if she's being characterized by Yasu or anything. From the feel EP7 gives about Beatrice's dead, one could imply that Beatrice that we are shown is nothing but an delusion created by Battler to stop feeling guilty and lonely.

Personally I don't dislike Yasu's character, but I'm saying we barely ever see anything about the real her.

Someone should bring back /theories/, or /theories and intepretation/. I'm sick of all this fake Beato vs true Beato stuff getting in the way of me asking people how their day was.

No. In the first place, I am not friends with over half the Seacats. Aside from Gogo, Butler, Rin, Astaroth, Anon and George, I have no real closeness to anyone; You could argue I'm not that close (any longer) to people on that list. From that bucketlist, only George is who I would consider a close friend.

Outside that bucket list, I get along well with Cake. Anyone not on that list is either someone I am completely indifferent to (such as with Lion), someone I cannot stand, or someone with who I feel an offline meet could only have terrible results for all involved (such as with Squitcher).
