>Give me a choice between "other servant who serves as Shirou's ally towards the end" and Lancer is miles and miles ahead of Rider.
Well I'm a little biased on that point since Rider is my favourite F/SN girl besides Ilya.

>And yes, the final battle scene in HF sucks. It's glorified so much, but it's basically just Kotomine beating on Shirou until he runs out of gas.
Personally I thought it was more because either of them still had the energy left to fight at that point that made it even more impressive. Both of them are on their last legs, and then it breaks down into a manly fistfight between the two.
Maybe it's just me, but I'll always take a manly fistfight over an overly showy battle of magic and swords any day.

Well, opinions, etc. I personally liked the big magical battles, but I can see why they tried to stick a brutal fist-fight at the end. It just didn't resonate very well with me, especially since Kotomine being able to show up there at all was a bit of a stretch. Kinda seemed like they shoehorned him in just to have Shirou fight him again without worrying about actually having it fit into the story. Oh well, though, a lot of people like it, and more power to them, I guess.

Backstory perhaps, there's chunks of them scattered throughout the VN. The cooking/going to school/normalfag life scenes were interesting at first, but they become somewhat of a hassle to click through after some time. (Yes, I click instead of leaving the VN on autoplay)

As for Civ games, I usually don't finish one game in one sitting, it can go up to 5 or 6 sessions especially if it's at Epic speed. With that said, I admit I don't have the patience to try out modern warfare, the furthest I've been is with Rifles.

>>22370
How should I describe this. Certain books and VNs draw me in and urge me to keep on reading the next word, line, paragraph etc. Fate and the first half of UBW hasn't been very .... addictive.

Eh, if you've made it all the way through part of UBW and don't want to read more, you probably won't like the rest of it, even if the end of UBW is a lot more epic than Fate.

When did /seacats/ become so "underground elitist" about its VNs, anyway?

And to be honest, I barely ever make it to the modern era warfare in Civ IV too, mostly because I try to end the games before then.

A well-played Civ towards the start of the modern era has such incredible production capabilities that you start getting unit stacks totaling 50+ units and it does severely slow down gameplay (against the AI, though, you can usually afford to divide up such a stack into a few smaller stacks to make things quicker).

It's probably just me being elitist etc. Although the UBW movie omitted many scenes from the VN or so I've heard, I believe watching the movie somewhat spoiled the general gist of the plot for me, hence the lack of motivation to read it.

>>22375
Indeed, however it seems like I'm missing out greatly on what Civ 4 warfare has to offer. Some examples include training a great general unit up till level 10 etc, naval combat and nukes.

With that said, it tends to get annoying when a modern resource like oil pops up on my town tile, forcing me to demolish it in exchange for the ability to build modern units.

A city on the resource will allow you access to the resource. You don't have to demolish the city to get it. You simply lose out on the extra productivity the resource + improvement adds to the tile.

For example, if you build a city on an iron resource, you will have access to swordsman and other units you can build from iron. However, it's not a very efficient thing to do, because a mine on an iron tile creates a HUGE boots to hammers the tile provides, while a city on the tile will receive at maximum a +1 boost.

Though you should keep in mind that often later resources are revealed before you can actually make use of them. In the case of oil, for example, it is revealed by the Scientific Method technology, but you cannot actually build a well to gain access to the resource until you have the Combustion technology (or Plastics for water-based oil). Ergo, if you build a city on an oil resource, you won't be able to use the oil until Combustion, even if you reveal it when you discover Scientific Method.

In order to allow you to build the units associated with them, trade them, and receive the boosted improvement bonus, yes. Though by the later stages of the game I typically have so many cottages that losing one or two mature cottages isn't that big of a deal, though it's certainly disappointing if it pops in one my major commerce centers (on the other hand, it's certainly preferable to not having the resource, and oil is most commonly found in useless desert/water tiles anyway).

Girlfriend still hasn't called back. The work of the last three days was lost all at once. It was beyond my control. That night I dreamed I met a sentient baked dessert, the novelty wore off when he sold out my location to a black cat. My immediate future is a relentless wave that will come and pass whether or not I am able to surmount it. I was unable today to find something setting myself out from my monotonous peers, I didn't stand out. I wasn't worshiped. Other people were the center of attention and I found myself silent. But then I remembered. There is a forum somewhere not yet dead where five or so people recognize me with varying degrees of fondness under the name of a character from a Japanese doujin picture book. They know me. They know me on the internet. I also sometimes like to post as a girl. And nobody can take that away from me.

That? I was only kidding. Goes to show you should be careful with satire over the internet, where the tone is harder to read.

The love of 2D is after all only a manifestation of the mind's imagination interacting with the desire to procreate a real partner. And this overwhelming desire to settle down and start a family is after all the driving force of sexually reproductive life, and the masterwork of evolution. A man who denies that denies his origin, his future, his purpose. His entire existence.
