If you are reading this then you likely already know this is the thread for the new Seacatronpa RP game I am going to run.
The last attempts at this style have ended prematurely so after having recently finished reading V3 I felt like this would be a good time to try my take at it.

For the unaware, this will be a multi-person RP game based on the killing games in Danganronpa. This game is invite only.
The general idea is that as a player you can win by either killing someone without getting caught, or otherwise work with everyone to solve the murders other people commit.
You don’t need to know much more about Danganronpa since this game does not intend to have spoilers, although I think most players have finished at least one of the games.

This post will outline how the game will be played and how it will differ from the video game/past Dangan gameboards.

As a player this game will take place in two different threads, public group threads for everyone to post in, and a private thread on your own secret board. I will have access to every board and will respond to your posts in both the group and private thread.
The game will switch between different phases and depending on the phase you will be asked to post in the private or group thread. The phases include: Exploration, Breakfast, Free Time, Event, Nighttime, Investigation, and Trial.

Exploration Phase (Group Thread)
This phase will take place at the start of the game, and the morning after every trial. The goal is to explore the new area(s) as a team so you can orient yourselves.
As you can see this is a group thread so everyone will know what the rooms and environments looked like when you first found them.

Breakfast (Group Thread)
Almost every morning of a new day will start with this phase. This gives you time to talk to other players as a group and receive new info from me when needed.
These phrases will likely be short and mostly help to indicate when something has happened.

Free Time (Private Thread)
During this time you be allowed to explore, talk to people, and do just about anything you want. You will be using your own private thread so this can be a useful time to do something you wouldn’t want others to know about. Who knows there may also be some secrets.

Event (Group Thread)
These are miscellaneous events that can happen and may or may not require interaction.

Nighttime (Private Thread)
On most days after Freetime it will transition to Nighttime. During the night some of the areas are locked off and you are encouraged to sleep. Unless you have a reason for being awake you will automatically go to sleep and lock the door to your private room if you are holding the game up.

Investigation (Private Thread)*
When a body announcement occurs everyone will be prompted in their threads to head to the specified location. A post will be made in the group chat giving the general environment of the crime scene when everyone has gathered and you will resume investigating in your private thread. By investigating and interrogating you will find clues that will be marked as Bullet Truths which can be considered the essential clues to solve the mystery. Once these are found, and once everyone has had some time to investigate, the phase will end. After an Investigation Phase there will always be a Trial Phase. All the Bullet Truths will be listed in the group thread before the Trial begins (note, although these are the minimum necessary to solve the case do not assume it means you found all possible clues).

*If this method causes problems it could change to a group thread. However that will take away the fun of investigating so we will attempt this method first.

Trial (Group Thread)
This is when everyone is forced to gather so you can try to solve the mystery. You will discuss with the other players various topics until you reach a conclusion or I tell you to vote. You will then send me a vote on Discord for who you think the culprit is. If the majority gets it right then the game continues and the murderer is punished. If you are wrong then the murderer wins and everyone else is punished, ending the game. Unlike previous gameboards the trials will be somewhat structured, with me suggesting topics every now and then if necessary. Additionally you can request me to turn any newly presented clues or information into Bullet Truths if needed. (So for example if someone saw something and they realize it might be important they can present it to everyone and I may turn it into a truth for you.)

For the most part the goal this time is to make sure the mysteries are fair. So if you do decide to kill I have prepared various mysteries for you to use. Of course you can still make your own, but only if I approve of it. Keep in mind as a killer you won’t be able to win that easily since it will have to still be solvable to be approved.

Additionally I don't think I need to mention this but, if you do get killed your private board will be locked and you will no longer be allowed to post. You are free to spectate but depending on how you die you may know information that would spoil the mystery for the other players. So you know, don't tell anyone until the game is over.

This is the general setup for the game. Next up are your characters.

Characters
For characters creation I want you to message me in Discord. Just give me a name, a brief backstory (minimum 3-5 sentences), the sprites or images you will use, and what you would like your “Ultimate” title to be (ex Ultimate Pianist, Ultimate Gambler, etc). Keep in mind these are titles, so your character has done something to earn it, at least in the eyes of some people. For your Ultimate tell me your first pick, and list a number of others you wouldn’t mind having. You may not get your first, or even second choice depending on what they are but I’d like to let everyone have at least one they don’t hate. Based on your Ultimate title I will create a skill you get once the game starts (ex Nurse can perform first aid).

If you have an idea for a character but are unsure if it will be allowed ask me over Discord and we can discuss it. For instance if you want to be a Dangan character you would have to play as if they never took part in a killing game before. The same can be said about Ultimates, as in you won’t be able to just get any OP ability you want.

That should be the jist of it.

Close to when we start I will go around asking everyone what days of the week they are most likely to be able to post so I know the best times to start group events. For now I’d like to get all the characters in before we start planning when the game will start. Since some of the players value not knowing who is who I will be communicating privately via Discord, and so the main communicating with other players will be done in game. There are also a few other elements that only will be explained as you find them in game such as stores and currency so keep that in mind. If there are any other questions you can ask them here or use Discord and if it is important I will post/edit here clarifying.

Regarding Bullet Truths:
I changed the definition of these a bit from the text above so I wanted to make it clear.
The trials will only start once all the necessary information is known. So, while Bullet Truths will be related to the mystery at hand, not all of them may be essential to solve who did it.
As the name implies their main purpose is to ensure you can trust clues that other players have found.

Regarding Exploration:
"As a group" is refering to the fact you will be able to see what everyone investigates during this time since it will be in the same thread.
You are free to split up as much as you want and you can assume you have investigated the areas others have investigated during this time.

How often should I post? What if I am busy?
This will vary for each phase and is hard to predict atm. If you are busy you should try to post once or twice during Breakfast/Exploration since that is when you can talk to other players freely.
Then you can just say you go to your room during Freetime until night if you are really busy.
Investigations are similar, even if you don't post during them you get to see all the bullet truths before the Trial. That said, the people who did investigate will likely have a better picture.

For the most part one or two posts here and there will be completely acceptable, although Trials will be big discussions so you may want to set aside time for them.
I will try and make sure Trials start on days when all the players are free enough to post.

As for my response rate, I have everyone on discord so if you talk to someone who is afk during Private Thread phases I may just tell you so you can go do something else.
Of course this won't always be possible to let you move and in some cases I will have to wait for said players to be online so keep this in mind.
If a player is holding the game up I will message them on discord and if I don't hear anything in a day or so I will move it along.
