for an MMO, DQX is great. the best part is that everything "multiplayer" about it is entirely optional, to the point where the game even gives you a setting called "solo play mode" that prevents other players from being able to invite you to their party, so you can travel with just NPCs hired from the bar.
it's not as good as DQIII or DQIV, but then again that's a pretty high standard to hold ANY game up to. the story is fun, the class/skill point system mixes together nicely, and the people i've run into are all pretty friendly even with a gaijin like me.

ver2.0 comes out in December, which adds a whole new continent, a new class called "monster user" that lets you scout enemy monsters into your party (they'll even level up along with you, it seems!), and finally the motherfucking Casino.
