I agree with your logic, but I got the impression that his entire character was presented with the premise of being born distinctively evil.

I dunno how true that is for reality, but in the case of Kotomine I accepted it and felt some sympathy for him. Course it's still best for characters like him to be killed by a great hero like Kiritsugu~

Was Erika a sociopath? yes. Was she an annoying brat? yes, very much. Was she a good character? I think she was. You mentioned characters' goals a while ago, and Erika seemed to me the "please hate me" kind of character. She did that work really damn good, until she become a little more neutral in EP8, but that was because of her own background.
>>69581
>Kirei couldn't help the fact that he was born with a desire to cause suffering.
Yes, of course he could. From what we are told, he never really cared of anything at all, until he found out he loved evil stuff. Did he try not to be evil? Yes, for a while, but that doesn't really change the fact he's a crazy bastard.
>>69582
Takano become completely chaotic evil because childhood traumas and pride. So well, yeah, not the best background.

Actually, I felt like Takano was along the lines of Light Yagami or Kiritsurugu. He believed in something to the point where she became chaotic, and would do many evil things for the sake of this idea.

But Takano was fine. I didn't feel entirely sorry for her, but I did feel something when she was fighting really hard to the point where even god denied her wishes and broke her in the last chapter.

The rest was about becoming what you set out to destroy kind of thing. Fight fire with a bigger fire. Corruption.

Maybe if she'd actually helped the story in some way... all I enjoyed about her was seeing her get beat down and defeated, which I guess was part of the point. Unfortunately, she added very little to the overall plot of Umineko because the core arcs fell apart pretty much completely after episode 5.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. It was fun watching that little show, John adding all the right lines to further the suspense. The only thing I really regret is how obstinate you were in clinging to the truth, but I expect nothing less.

That's probably up to what you consider the "story". If the "story" died in EP5 then yes, Erika had no chances to get involved at all.
However, if you are willing to accept the story it's still the story even if it dramatically changed, then well, Erika did some stuff there.
She along Battler(?) solved the Epitaph and showed the murders could still happen after that.
Then she and Dlannor killed aphonic-ato, causing Battler to get Deux ex machina powers.
She become Battler oponent in the next game, and along some stuff, she trapped Battler into a logic error.

None of that matters to the story because too meta or something? Well, that's up to you.

None of that mattered because there was no payoff, no real thrills involved, and frankly it was just... I don't know, fake. Hmph. There are a few problems with that. Firstly, Bern doesn't want to know what I sound like, or what I look like.

As for Cake, he could have recorded my voice recently, since I was in vent and he knew it. He even said hello to me in chat. Now, if he wanted to deliver my voice to all you conspirators, that was the perfect time to do it. So he, at least, is not working with you.

You must just be trying to make me paranoid. Or maybe something like that actually happened, but it was certainly not an ongoing conspiracy.

Also, are you saying three people hate me? Or three people are evidence that I am a sociopath? Say it clearly.

I'd never try to make you paranoid! It's just that, everything you do is so seedy, so these kinds of situations occur naturally. Umm, I'd say it's the latter, but the former works too to some extent.

Bern knows a fair bit about me. So does Meta, and he has looser lips. But it doesn't necessarily work the same way around. I don't know much about Bern, even less now that we haven't spoken in depth for a long time. I think Bern simply respects the illusion, is all. Even if her character is to be my fan, like your character is to be dense, there are lines that wouldn't be crossed.

Your fantasy view of me is interesting. In truth I don't do anything, let alone anything seedy.

Funny, I thought it was the reverse considering Meta and Bern. I think you want her to respect the illusion since she found out something beyond that line. It's honestly tough, to balance the illusion between curiosity and amusement. You find out too much and the game ends, but you don't push enough and it's stagnant!

Come now, no need to be modest. That little sociopathic "spin" was enough to make at least two people, maybe three, bothered and upset. Seedy business follows seedy people~

Meta has betrayed secrecy once. If he hadn't, Evange would be resting in peace, not piece. I don't think Bern ever has. But that's not my only basis. Not only does Bern know things without revealing them, I think she stopped herself from knowing things because of respect for the illusion.

I don't really even remember what happened with the Evange fiasco. Oh sure, Bern knows things. She logs like everything ever. For most people it doesn't really matter, as most don't really try to hide, or lie, or play coy with weird sociopathic games and the like.

But when it comes to someone like you who likes the cloak and dagger shtick, she'd be useful! Too bad she's neutral good instead of chaotic neutral.
