Dreams are fun... sometimes. Well they are interesting at least. My last dream was with me going to some college and finding out one of the teachers was murdering other students. And involved me and a few other students going around looking for clues (almost scooby doo style) Though one of them was an accomplice and started killing us as we split up. I was caught by the teacher in the end and brutally tortured and murdered.

"Is it right to ask a girl for sex if you put up with a lot of her headaches? This girl I know causes me headaches for days. I've only known her for a month but I'm pretty mad at her because she always pulls a lot of BS. Now in order for me to talk to her again, I want her to make it up to me.
What I want though is sex as a consolation prize for dealing with her."

What.

If you don't like that person enough to put up them without getting something like that, you shouldn't be friends with them.

Nope, it is not alright to ask for that by any means. Sex should not be something done as a make-up thing.

Also you obviously don't care enough to be friends with her if you need to have something more than an apology. (If you even deserve that)

As I said before, I am a pacifist and I will always try to avoid conflicts. But usually the conflicts that has happened so far don't required my intervention and as you have noted before most of my advice or my actions would be ineffective and would make the situation worse. about supporting both sides, I already said that I consider you all my friends, So I wont ever betray someone else. I dont act, not because I dont want, but because it will only make the things worse.

Random dreams thread? My most recent dream was about hunting vampires at McDonalds, and for some reason it involved stealing their jackets. I was with some guy who was my "partner" in vampire-hunting, but I don't even know who he was in retrospect. I don't think he was a family member, a friend, or a fictional character, or anyone I even know in real life. Just some guy. And the other details were kinda odd too~

>In America during the early 1700s, revelers believed that wearing green made them invisible to leprechauns, who would pinch and, in some accounts, steal anyone they could see (i.e., anyone not wearing green). People began pinching those not wearing green on St. Patrick's Day as a reminder to be wary of the fey folk.

Jyoji, last game you should have totally have researched Horseback Riding at some point. Not only does it unlock the essential mobility promotion, but it would've let you upgrade your elephants into war elephants, which have +50% vs. mounted (ie centaurs).

Sure, they don't receive defensive bonuses (and thus with Chalid I would've still broken through them without too many losses), but normal elephants don't either and can't even attack~ Plus war elephants are more mobile, having 2 move as opposed to the 1 of elephants~

I understand you don't wanna play FFH2, so don't feel like I'm asking you to~ Though I feel compelled to respond to that and say that if you know Civ4 well, a lot of the base game play of FFH2 is similar~

The specifics are often different, but the same general principles mostly apply~ Really I'd say the magic system is the thing that's most different, what with all the buffs/debuffs, AoE damage, and terraforming~ Also Civs/religions are much more different from each other than in base Civ~

It is, because the idea of units having "special abilities" is very, very limited in base Civ4. Not so in FFH2~! Magic doesn't have to play a huge role in every game, though~ Traditional tactics while using magic for support is usually what I find to be optimal, though there are strategies for pure magic-based warfare as well (my "wall of bone" summoner army for example)~

See, like, the problem is that hammers can't move. It was at the complete mercy of Chen. You can't blame the poor thing for being manipulated.

Unless you wanna make the argument that it somehow tricked Chen into picking it up and taking it outside! Of course by your logic, that would make Chen solely responsible, and the hammer innocent. That means the hammer is innocent no matter what?

As a matter of fact I was actually in the middle of re-watching Tatami Galaxy while trying to come up with something else to do, and have had the episode paused for the past 20 minutes because I got distracted by this meaningless argument about how hammers lack free will and are all inherently evil.
But, well, that's not exactly a very pressing matter since I only started watching it due to having nothing else to do right now anyway, so I guess I can afford to waste a bit of time like this too. Hammers aren't sentient. You can't try a hammer and find it guilty for a crime somebody committed with it. As an object lacking independence, thought, free will, communication, or malice, it's highly illogical to fault the hammer for the deed. It's no more responsible for causing harm in somebody's hands than any other tool or implement, especially if it wasn't made to be used as a weapon in the first place.

Traveling doesn't seem worth the effort anymore. Sure I can take off wherever I want, whenever I want, and I probably will end up doing that every now and then, but for the most part I'm more than content with staying inside my room and idly killing time until I get bored enough to want to do something else.
And don't tell me you actually believed my whole "righteous hero" act. I just felt like trying something different out for a change, I've grown bored of that charade already. Then what are people supposed to define themselves and their worth by? Transient "feelings" that are nothing more than chemical reactions within the body and the brain? Flimsy "ideals" that they won't hesitate to change the minute something seemingly-better comes along? A meaningless "job" that they'll eventually retire from? People they call their "friends" despite knowing nothing about each other, and in a lot of cases not even enjoying their company?
I don't see how a materialistic perspective is any worse a way to define a man and his worth than any other set of standards that you can come up with.

Well if you wanna go that far they all carry the same risk. Mainly the risk of being "owned" by how you define yourself. People who define themselves through their ideals, their friends, or their material possessions are lowering their self worth. It's just funny that society kind of encourages people to do just this.

In the end, all are fine ways to define yourself up to a certain extent. You just gotta be careful of where the line is. In my personal view the most worthy of all of them would be an ideal. Anyone can be greedy and obtain things, but holding to a specific ideal can be impressive and defining.

It's a fine way to define yourself if you want to be defined as a fool. And anyway, being unique is grossly overrated. It doesn't really matter how "unique" a person might seem, given the number of people in the world and all their varying stances and opinions, I can almost guarantee you that any person you might call "unique" has at least a few thousand others out there who are exactly like him in just about every way. People are each about as unique as the background characters in an anime or a movie. Sure, you can argue that each of them is their own person, and that they'll never go through the exact same experiences that another person has been through, but when everybody is unique then nobody is.

Meh, depends on how you define unique. I think that people having their own experiences, thoughts, and views is enough to label mostly everyone as a stand alone individual. They might all think alike, but at the core they're all still different. Your way of thinking feels too pessimistic/dangerous to me.

>unique
>adjective
>• being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else
>• particularly remarkable, special, or unusual

>alike
>adjective
>• (of two or more people or things) similar to each other

If everyone is unique in the sense that they are unlike any other, then everyone in the world shares the same quality of uniqueness between them. By that logic, everyone in the world is alike, nobody is exceptional or special, because even if they are then it just means they're exactly the same as everybody else.
I don't see the problem in my way of viewing the pointless masses as all faceless background characters with no redeeming features. They're the same as NPCs that walk around aimlessly, parroting the same pre-programmed stock phrases over and over no matter how many times you interact with them. Do you feel empathy toward those useless NPCs in the video games that you play? Do you consider each of them unique even though they're just used and re-used stock character designs that are the exact same all the time and remain completely unchanging through the whole game?

Negatively? If there's anything negative about my viewpoint, it's surely your own misinterpretation of my words. In fact, isn't viewing everyone as absolutely equal the most neutral viewpoint you can hold? If everyone is the same, then none are inherently better or worse than the rest, therefore there's nothing negative about it. Equality through worthlessness, it's simple theory.

And besides, you've offered no refute to my claim that even if everyone is somehow unique, it's that same uniqueness that makes them exactly the same as everybody else in the world.

You're not really viewing them as purely equal though. Like you said, you see them as "stock characters with no reedeming qualities". I mean hell, you can understand that people are unique, but you then go on to classify that this uniqueness makes us all bland Penguindrum clones. That's kind of a negative narrow view to have of others, especially people who you don't even know.

A refute? Hmm. Even if people are all unique, they differ in "how" they're unique. You're viewing it in a broad sense that basically devalues just what makes everyone unique in favor of pointing out that they all have something in common: a trait that makes them unique.

No, I am viewing absolutely everyone in the world as completely equal to each other: as a large faceless crowd made up of entirely worthless individuals. 0 is zero is nought is nil, they're all unique ways of writing it but each holds the same inherent value as the next. Be it 0 or +0 or -0, nothing at all changes except how you choose to define it.
My viewpoint is only entirely logical. If I view people as bland background characters, then it's because that's all they really are. Nameless extras that were only included in the movie because the director needed a scene with a crowd of people.

I'll concede that people are each different in how they're unique, but only based on my prior logic that this is simply a different way of categorizing a bunch of things that all have the same value as each other under different names.

Subjective! This isn't factual at all; they're only worthless because you're seeing them as such.
>My viewpoint is only entirely logical. If I view people as bland background characters, then it's because that's all they really are
That's not really logical though; again, it's just your interpretation. Not everyone views people as worthless y'know. It's more "that's how I see them" than "that's how they truly are".

You're viewing them all as equal, which may have some basis in facts, but you're taking it too far and injecting your personal subjective view into what is defining them as such.

I've never once claimed that a single thing I've said has been anything other than subjective. In fact, I'm pretty sure I already said earlier that this is simply my opinion, and not to think too hard about it. In the first place, don't the very words "I am viewing[...]" imply an entirely subjective opinion on the whole matter?
These conclusions are all perfectly logical based on my own internal logic, formed through the trial and error of my own subjective life experiences.

You even admit that my viewpoint has some basis in facts, only that it's corrupt by personal opinion somewhere along the way. Isn't that fine? Nobody can ever view the world in a perfectly objective way, so forming ones opinions based on a combination of established facts and personal better judgement sounds like the most logical thing to do, does it not?

You're being like Sanetoshi. Well, you're being what he warned about. You're letting your "box" define to you what is true or not. I mean, you seem aware that it is all just your opinion, but if that's the case why would you build and continue to believe in a view that's negative and narrowing? Because change is too hard?

The point is that while you can back it up with your experiences it's still not set in stone as fact. If my experiences biased me towards thinking in a negative manner, I'd probably try to break out of my box like Sanetoshi spoke of doing~

Thing is, I've been playing the Devil's advocate for a while now. I even said as much to Feenie before you and I got into this whole debate about whether people really are "unique" or not. So rather than how you described it as letting my own box define what is true or not, I've instead been pretending to hide under a box that I just happened to pick up since it seemed like it'd be an interesting experience for a bit.

In the first place, think carefully about what you just asked me. Am I really so rigid a person as to stubbornly stick to a disadvantageous viewpoint just because "change is too hard"? If anything quite the opposite. It's like Feenie said, I change my mind far too often for something like that.
I was just trying to press and challenge your own views on the matter to see just how far I could sway your opinion. I have to say it turned out to be a more interesting way of killing time than I thought this was going to be, I consider it a small success.

Let me spoiler it for people who still might be playing ME3 or something

There's this kid from the beginning of the game you can't save who dies, which affects shepard mentally so he has these dreams about it throughout the game (A kid caused PTSD, not his squadmates getting killed, surviving an attack and being the only survivor, many other examples) and the kid turns out to be an AI in the Citadel which controls the reapers (so why the fuck did a reaper need to activate the mass relay in ME1 even though it failed to do so) and the AI gives you a choice to either A. Destroy all the reapers, all synthetic life, B. Fuse all races into synthetic/organic hybrids, maybe even wildlife too wat, or C. Control the reapers (and probably eventually be controlled), the only one shepard can "live" in is if you destroy the reapers and have a certain score, also, your ship, the Normandy IS RUNNING AWAY FROM BATTLE when you activate this weapon for no reason at all and ends up stranded on some random planet with two other squadmembers (even the synthetic robot titgirl even if you choose to destroy all synthetic life) and no matter what choice you make, all the Mass Relays are destroyed, leaving people stranded near earth (alien races included) and causing the galaxy as a whole to go into the dark ages. There's a ton of other derpy examples like the new squadmember BLAST HARDPECS who is full retard steroids guy, to "hey guys we added gay friendly choices in this game too, let's make characters that were most certainly not gay in the first two games gay now, throw choices about it in your face at every opportunity, and if you refuse to sleep with one of them, it gives you RENEGADE POINTS.
