But you two are going to go through life negatively prejudging everyone. Wouldn't it be best to think of people as unique, autonomous beings rather than prelist them all as stock characters with no redeeming or unique values?

Negatively? If there's anything negative about my viewpoint, it's surely your own misinterpretation of my words. In fact, isn't viewing everyone as absolutely equal the most neutral viewpoint you can hold? If everyone is the same, then none are inherently better or worse than the rest, therefore there's nothing negative about it. Equality through worthlessness, it's simple theory.

And besides, you've offered no refute to my claim that even if everyone is somehow unique, it's that same uniqueness that makes them exactly the same as everybody else in the world.

You're not really viewing them as purely equal though. Like you said, you see them as "stock characters with no reedeming qualities". I mean hell, you can understand that people are unique, but you then go on to classify that this uniqueness makes us all bland Penguindrum clones. That's kind of a negative narrow view to have of others, especially people who you don't even know.

A refute? Hmm. Even if people are all unique, they differ in "how" they're unique. You're viewing it in a broad sense that basically devalues just what makes everyone unique in favor of pointing out that they all have something in common: a trait that makes them unique.

You won't be so on guard or defensive. If you treat others as unique and worthy of respect, they might teach you a thing or two. At the very least you should allow every person the chance to reveal who they really are to you; prejudging them in either a positive or negative light is very limiting!

No, I am viewing absolutely everyone in the world as completely equal to each other: as a large faceless crowd made up of entirely worthless individuals. 0 is zero is nought is nil, they're all unique ways of writing it but each holds the same inherent value as the next. Be it 0 or +0 or -0, nothing at all changes except how you choose to define it.
My viewpoint is only entirely logical. If I view people as bland background characters, then it's because that's all they really are. Nameless extras that were only included in the movie because the director needed a scene with a crowd of people.

I'll concede that people are each different in how they're unique, but only based on my prior logic that this is simply a different way of categorizing a bunch of things that all have the same value as each other under different names.

Subjective! This isn't factual at all; they're only worthless because you're seeing them as such.
>My viewpoint is only entirely logical. If I view people as bland background characters, then it's because that's all they really are
That's not really logical though; again, it's just your interpretation. Not everyone views people as worthless y'know. It's more "that's how I see them" than "that's how they truly are".

You're viewing them all as equal, which may have some basis in facts, but you're taking it too far and injecting your personal subjective view into what is defining them as such.

I've never once claimed that a single thing I've said has been anything other than subjective. In fact, I'm pretty sure I already said earlier that this is simply my opinion, and not to think too hard about it. In the first place, don't the very words "I am viewing[...]" imply an entirely subjective opinion on the whole matter?
These conclusions are all perfectly logical based on my own internal logic, formed through the trial and error of my own subjective life experiences.

You even admit that my viewpoint has some basis in facts, only that it's corrupt by personal opinion somewhere along the way. Isn't that fine? Nobody can ever view the world in a perfectly objective way, so forming ones opinions based on a combination of established facts and personal better judgement sounds like the most logical thing to do, does it not?

You're being like Sanetoshi. Well, you're being what he warned about. You're letting your "box" define to you what is true or not. I mean, you seem aware that it is all just your opinion, but if that's the case why would you build and continue to believe in a view that's negative and narrowing? Because change is too hard?

The point is that while you can back it up with your experiences it's still not set in stone as fact. If my experiences biased me towards thinking in a negative manner, I'd probably try to break out of my box like Sanetoshi spoke of doing~

Thing is, I've been playing the Devil's advocate for a while now. I even said as much to Feenie before you and I got into this whole debate about whether people really are "unique" or not. So rather than how you described it as letting my own box define what is true or not, I've instead been pretending to hide under a box that I just happened to pick up since it seemed like it'd be an interesting experience for a bit.

In the first place, think carefully about what you just asked me. Am I really so rigid a person as to stubbornly stick to a disadvantageous viewpoint just because "change is too hard"? If anything quite the opposite. It's like Feenie said, I change my mind far too often for something like that.
I was just trying to press and challenge your own views on the matter to see just how far I could sway your opinion. I have to say it turned out to be a more interesting way of killing time than I thought this was going to be, I consider it a small success.

See, that's what I find enjoyable about you. I don't have to worry that I'll ever offend you. I've basically done the same thing, just to a lesser extent. Understanding the boxes of others is an interesting process.

You honestly had me a little afraid for a minute there. I thought maybe you actually could be that rigid. Rigidity is the enemy; don't forget that! You'll never sway me, though, so give up any naive hopes that you ever will.

Let me spoiler it for people who still might be playing ME3 or something

There's this kid from the beginning of the game you can't save who dies, which affects shepard mentally so he has these dreams about it throughout the game (A kid caused PTSD, not his squadmates getting killed, surviving an attack and being the only survivor, many other examples) and the kid turns out to be an AI in the Citadel which controls the reapers (so why the fuck did a reaper need to activate the mass relay in ME1 even though it failed to do so) and the AI gives you a choice to either A. Destroy all the reapers, all synthetic life, B. Fuse all races into synthetic/organic hybrids, maybe even wildlife too wat, or C. Control the reapers (and probably eventually be controlled), the only one shepard can "live" in is if you destroy the reapers and have a certain score, also, your ship, the Normandy IS RUNNING AWAY FROM BATTLE when you activate this weapon for no reason at all and ends up stranded on some random planet with two other squadmembers (even the synthetic robot titgirl even if you choose to destroy all synthetic life) and no matter what choice you make, all the Mass Relays are destroyed, leaving people stranded near earth (alien races included) and causing the galaxy as a whole to go into the dark ages. There's a ton of other derpy examples like the new squadmember BLAST HARDPECS who is full retard steroids guy, to "hey guys we added gay friendly choices in this game too, let's make characters that were most certainly not gay in the first two games gay now, throw choices about it in your face at every opportunity, and if you refuse to sleep with one of them, it gives you RENEGADE POINTS.
