Well, there are a lot of areas in which personal opinion can count for a lot, but in areas like personality which partially falls under a medical field of expertise, the only opinion which should be used as a measure is the majority opinion, by which a common standard can be set.
If it's something like, how well a book is written, or how good a genre of music is, then there's no real common standard by which to judge so in such cases personal opinion can count for a lot. Same with philosophy where personal opinion can be the very source of discussion itself.
Actually, I think I did have a conversation like this lately. I can't remember where or when though, I'm just killing time by writing more walls of text right now, a meaningless argument where even if I'm proven wrong I still win since my goal was never to disprove the opposition to begin with.
Which actually brings up another conversation I had lately with Butler; You see I don't play losing games, I either win and progress or tie and maintain the status quo.
