I liked the ending. For those who thought this was an asspull and that it didn't do Homura justice, I think you're just not looking at it in another way. Madoka finally responds to Homura's efforts, and in realizes that hopes comes along with despair, and that without them (and fighting with them) mankind cannot advance (we can ignore the part about QB being responsible for human advancement, but it's essential that they and the magical girls were there, according to the show) which meant that stopping the witches before they can taste even further despair is one of the "correct" solutions.This was telegraphed through out episode 11.
THe idea of an amazing, beyond universal and beyond human understanding of magic is not new either; if Pretty Cure can do something like it, why can't a more serious show do it?
And saying that these people shouldn't have made the choices back then is like saying that a drama should have gone this way to avoid this ending. That's not how a story works. None of the "mistakes' were beyond human fault (e.g. opening a microwave when it's on, joking about killing elevens, etc.), they were just different paths walked, that's all there is to it.
It's the journey and the expression that's most important in this show. Since you guys keep comparing Eva to this for some reason, let's point out an example there: why the hell didn't Shinji just man in the beginning? Why didn't he just take down Seele and Gendo when he had the chance? It's because while the story is there as itself, it needs to also show the audience what it wants to show. We as the audience needed to know certain things and feel certain ways beforehand. Of course, you guys hated the ending to NGE, too. (Ironically, though, Madoka got MORE budget and time while NGE didn't; I guess it just doesn't matter either way).
What I'm more surprised about is that no one has complained about Homura getting FRIENDZONED LOL YURIFAGS SUCK IT .
