Either way it'd pass. The hard DC of a level 11 skill challenge would still be only 27. If you roll that or higher, then you usually succeed, barring special circumstances that increase the DC or penalize your skill checks.

To answer your question, Rotho--no, it's not mandatory to group minions under the same initiative check, it's just something I typically do to help combat flow faster~ I mean, just look at the size of that initiative list~

The bright side is that I have Firebird, an at-will Fire attack, and Squitcher has Booming Blade, an at-will Thunder attack.

The not-so-bright side is that the minions can completely ignore our Defenders due to them being unable to enforce their marks, and the Frost Beasts are immune to everyone who doesn't have Fire or Thunder damage and isn't willing to blow a daily on removing minions.

We should probably draft up a plan.

I believe Squitcher's mark can still render the minions useless by preventing the damage they do, but of course he can only make one creature at a time.

Stratergery: Nareka should stay on the western side of the map and deal with the minions using Thunderwave and Booming Blade. Once he's done with them he can join us in the east. My fire arrows are very limited, I only have 2 left, so I'd rather Sora tried to use Fire Hawk to take care of as many minions as she can. Everyone else should focus on the non-minions. Sophie's got most of them locked down for now it looks like, I plan to unload on one of them with my nova round on my next turn, which should hopefully do a lot of damage and weaken one of them. I'll be using a minor action attack + standard attack with both Assassin's Strike and Sneak Attack, two frost arrows (3d10 + 2d6 + 4d6 cold) and Spotted Toadstool Venom (unless my first hit bloodies my target, in which case I may hold back on the Venom).

Only one of the minions knows where I am, so if you could eliminate that one first, Sora--Brute 1 to be exact--that'd be swell. I should be hidden from all other creatures aside from that brute and the halfling rogue.

Melech, concentrate on the mage and the blackguard. Use your Divine Challenge, but save your mass-sanction abilities for later, we may need them when engaging the larger group to the south. Now's a good time to use Virtue too.

Nareka should use Dimensional Vortex to interrupt the warlord, if it hits you can make it attack the blackguard instead. Now that all the enemies are bunched Melech should use Paladin's Wrath when her turn comes up too.

A number of things can happen. Any enemy that bloodies me for the first time suffers 3 force damage, to start.

Cloak of Displacement also allows me to make one of them re-roll their attack roll and let me teleport 1 if they miss, so there's that.

Since it's a Daily power, we best look at DimVort first. Let's hope it does more for Squitcher than it did for me.

Well, it doesn't quite work that way with monster classes, the rogue is probably a skirmisher and a non-elite and the warlord is an elite soldier I think, the brute is the monster class that has higher damage (along with the lurker after its setup round)~

Anyways, Tainya has no useful interrupts for this, and I think Gogo's only work if it's marked by her. No one has the Knight Hospitaler theme so we may just need to have anon burn a heal to get Sora back up, unless you wanna use the cloak daily.

My recommendation for Melech would be to use Valorous Smite, and if it misses follow with Paladin's Wrath. Nareka can move up to the grouped enemies and hit them with Sword Burst. Then we'll apply a mix of AoE and directed attacks to burn them down. Those Maze of Mirror attacks should all be hits which means they are pretty screwed for the next round.

They don't technically become dazed, but it's similar. They can't take any actions except that which you command them to take, and they grant combat advantage and can't flank. The only actions you can command them to take is one of the following, on their turn: a minor, a move, or a standard. They can't take free actions, immediate actions, or opportunity actions, and you can only command them to use at-will powers~

The halfling rogue just hit Narerka with a counter attack. It doesn't invalidate his hit, but it does deal some damage to him and turns the rogue invisible. So if Melech wants to use Price of Cowardice to punish it, he can. I'll say right now that if Price of Cowardice hits, the rogue's attack will miss and it will not turn invisible.

Some of us weren't even hit. I believe Sora spent 2 surges (Rousing Words) and Melech also spent 2 (Virtue + Inspiring Word). I don't know if anyone else actually spent any in combat.

As for healing, looks simple enough to me. Have Kuro plant the battle standard of healing and use his remaining Inspiring Word on Sora. That should more or less get everyone up to almost full. Melech could spend a surge but it honestly seems a bit wasteful. I'll hang around to give my +2 bonus to surge value until Kuro uses inspiring word~

Maybe if you could accomodate everyone else, though you'd still have to make it in time for the summit. At a speed of 30 mph/60 squares a round/720 miles a day, the Lightning Rail's pretty much the fastest anything in D&D. Airships only go at 20 mph/20 squares a round/420 miles a day. Air travel is slower than the Lightning Rail and can't even keep up with it.

It's actually a seperate map. Thing is that they're not really compatible since the pixels per square for each one are different. It's one reason why I wanted you guys to just hop on the train together, so I wouldn't have to deal with this sort of situation.

I think the DM mentioning your move is possible without provoking attacks would be fair, especially when you're new. I thought there was maybe some good reason for this (actions that trigger or whatever) but if it's just because you didn't know you could shift to avoid the OA then uhhhhh why didn't Saku just mention that and treat it as that?

It'll hardly do much aside from avoiding completely unnecessary damage.

As another curiosity I haven't seen their plague affect anyone yet? Did Saku remove it? I'd be okay with that since to me it seems it punishes melee characters for engaging in melee, defenders for threatening their charge with OAs and ranged characters for getting attacked by the meazels but if he just forgot then I'm sorry everyone, I reminded him of something dangerous.

I didn't make them up to punish you. I picked them out of one of the monster manuals because they looked interesting. I understand that it looks bad, but remember that you haven't used any daily powers yet whatsoever, nor have you spent any surges this encounter, and most of you still have your encounter powers. If you start spending those resources, then this thing'll be over before you know it.

There's a little problem Cirno. It seems I misread the power and the zone the attack creates is only in the origin square, and we need them to be adjacent to it to get immobilized. So I recommend the following:

Use Visions of Avarice instead in B-94
Slide bravo 2 to B-94
Slide bravo 1 to C-94
Slide hunter to C-95
And with your minor action use light on Kuro's armor, there's dim light inside of the train. Melech should also use a minor action to activate the light from his Viligant Blade next turn if possible.

Hey Squitcher, can you go and visit that damn archer? Melech should be able to defend us of those guys for now. It's a bit far from you, but you can move + teleport to reach him. If you aren't satisfied with just marking him you can AP to Booming Blade it.

Beguiling Strands is a push, not a slide. So you can't move him closer to you. Therefore, from E/98, you can't reach Meazel Hunter 2 with your Aegis of Shielding, which is a close burst 2.
