Ok, since I forgot that I had a familiar, I just added it to the background. Dump time.
Narerka's youth was a pretty troubled one.
He knows himself little about his birth, being a half-elf, he was the son of a man and a female elf.
However, his mother was part of a pretty secluded Elf community, and when words came that she was pregnant with a Human's son,
she became loathed by the whole community. She was exiled two weeks after Narerka's birth. All that is known is that she left
the child to a group of wandering drows passing by. The last word she said to the leader of the group was
"It was in our best interest, I just hope he won't hate me." She was never heard from again.
As for the father, very little is known about him, even how they both met, but Malagyln, leader of the Drow group, seems to
know him somehow.
After being picked up by the drows while not even a month old, he grew up with them till the age of 10, wandering through the
various plains of Khorvaire. They apparently left the Xen'drik continent years ago, since they hold opinions in strong
disaccord with the Xen'Drik's drows. He learned basics of hunting and survival in these years, even if not being particularly
good at it. Malaglyn, leader of the group, treated him like his real flesh and blood, and if he was strict, he did
cherish his moments with Narerka, and Narerka respected him like a father as well, making up for his own lack of parental figure.
Two months after he reached the age of 10, Malaglyn told him he could not stay with them longer, and that he feared growing
up with drows, beings loathed by the general community, would only hurt him and his future. He wished for Narerka to not live
a life of constant wandering and become something more.
So that Narerka may live a better life, he put him under the care of Taldor d'Medani, who he knew during the Last War.
Taldor accepted, on the condition that Narerka was to join the Basilisk's Gate when he would be strong enough.
And so Narerka was under Taldor's guard. He certainly was a different man, distant, cold, but all the same very dignified.
He taught Narerka how to fight and use swords, and by the age of 13 he was strong enough to take care of thieves and robbers.
But Taldor still didn't thought he was ready yet. Narerka then learned the ways of a Swordmage. At 16 he finally joined
the Basilisk's Gate, that group under the Medani House who hunts war criminals. He didn't have the common profile of the
group members, but his sturdiness and willingness to fight made him a really efficient piece in the group.
His main feat was the capture, all alone of Hardarak, the 'Medani hunter', an assassin who mainly targeted the Medani House.
After turning 20, he felt the need to explore the world by himself and took on a journey across Khorvaire.
As a parting gift, the old man gave him a cat. A black cat with heterochromia, the left eye green and the right blue, he was
slender and energetic. It didn't escape Narerka's mind how strange it was for Taldor to suddenly possess a cat, which he never
once saw for the years he lived with him, when he asked him the origin of the feline, "An old buddy gave it to me some days ago...
Don't forget to name him and take care of him." was his only response, despite the term "old buddy" surprisingly out of character
for the man Taldor was, Narerka didn't push the issue and accepted the young cat, which he named Moris.
When the time to leave came, Taldor simply said to this" You've proved you had some talents kid. Come back again someday".
To this day, he still is wandering around the world. Taking from his two caretakers, he is a calm and thoughtful young man,
and does not like to talk about his life. But he does cherish the people he come to appreciate, and if he values is own life
above all else, he would be willing to take risk for another's life.
