After a few hours of effort, Sariel finishes the party's enchantments. It is now late, and time to retire for the evening.

After a refreshing rest, the party assembles near the Arcanimus over a period of time, to find two familiar figures standing outside--though two you've not seen together before. Letharst the tiefling has spotted you and is approaching eagerly, and trailing lazily behind him is the bald, scarred orcish warlord in studded leather, with a hefty, wicked-looking greatsword hefted over his shoulder, Kraag Bloodspire.

"Friends, friends, hello!" Letharst announces, moving forward and stopping about ten feet from the gathered adventurers. He grins at you, though keeps his distance, as if a bit hesitant. "The grand duke has requested you come to the palace as soon as you are able. Best to get going, yes?"

Again, the shaman calls her spirit to again infuse the warlock, who again blasts the carrion crawler with more eldritch energy. It seems quite wounded now...

Bernkastel takes ongoing 5 poison damage.
Bernkastel uses call spirit companion, granting 4 THP to Sariel.
Bernkastel uses spirit infusion, granting Myn an eldritch blast, which hits for 32 damage.
Bernkastel uses call spirit companion, granting 4 THP to Sureiya.
Bernkastel saves, and the aftereffect slow kicks in.

Folka's movements seem to sway and lurch out of control as he moves to another spot near the crawler. Suddenly a jab comes from the same swaying form, forcing the huge creature to move and with a fluid movement, he seems to regain his composure as another blow rings out and it is slid back into its previous position. He yells in frustration at the creature,"Just DIE already!"

The monk unleashes a special, erratic technique on the crawler, which causes it to stagger back and forth, leaving an opening which the cavalier's tiger wastes no time in exploiting. The claw attack proves to be the extent of the crawler's resilience, and it collapses in a disgusting heap.

Folka's drunken monkey hits the carrion crawler for 13 damage, and slides it 1 square. His centered breath flurry of blows deals 4 damage and slides it back 1 square. Rutger's raking claw hits the carrion crawler for 11 damage, which kills the crawler.

Sariel sighs with relief when the Crawler finally drops. Roth returns to her master's side, satisfied with herself for her performance this battle.

"Why must every cave in this land be filled with monsters?" Sariel complains weakly, eyeing the corpses and what looks like a troglodyte hoard a bit further up ahead.

"Half-orc, help me salvage some spoils," she adds, setting off towards it to poke around for helpful things they could use.

"Be more careful next time. If you died on us, I'd be s..." The ghost sound hesitates, then says, "Either way, the magic invested in your swords is too weak. When we have time, I insist you let me strengthen the enchantment."

Sariel briefly peers over at the Dragonborn. Maybe a good idea to also strengthen the enchantment on his blade, given his performance this battle, but... would they have the necessary residuum to bind the enchantment?

Sariel's magic hand gently lifts the lid of the chest, and finds it to be unlocked and trap-free.

Inside, you find a bronze girdle, studded with a great many gems, which Sariel quickly determines to be enchanted. This is a belt of the dwarven defender (heroic tier).

In addition, the chest contains 600 gold pieces, and a gneiss amulet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is studded with zinc and encircled with bands of green glass. It menaces with spikes of gneiss and obsidian. On the item is an image of a dog and an elephant in gneiss. The elephant is striking down the dog. On the item is an image of a goblin and a dwarf in brass. The dwarf is shooting the goblin. On the item is an image of a dwarf and a mandrill in opal. The mandrill is striking down the dwarf. On the item is an image of an animal trap in turtle shell. Sureiya notices the words "Edimasol Tecák Lokast" written on it, in the Dethek script. To translate, you must be able to read Dwarven. Sariel (History): The dwarves of Ammarindar were a civilization that long predates the Spellplague. They were well known for their prowess in crafting magical and mundane items. The dwarves themselves explained it as if they were possessed by supernatural forces, and often came down with "strange moods" which caused a certain dwarf to suddenly stop what he or she was doing, grab some materials, and produce a very potent and unique item. Further, the parent civilization was known for sending out expedition forces of dwarves to the far reaches of their territory in order to set up outposts in search of riches and glory.

As for this particular outpost, not much is known, other than the fact that it fell about a decade after its founding. The cause of its fall is unknown, but it seems likely that it fell from forces from within rather than without.

Bernkastel and Sureiya (Perception): There's nothing out of the ordinary here. About the only thing you notice now that you didn't before are some nearly-invisible spider webs here and there. The webs are appropriately sized for normal spiders, not giant spiders, and thus pose no apparent threat.
