With a bit of aid from the spirits, and some "insight" from her allies, the psionic shaman quickly determines that there IS an illusion covering the stairs ahead... it's likely something that was set up long in advance, though. Perhaps the Wearer in Purple merely activated some old traps...? There could be more ahead. The group should proceed with caution, and take care not to stumble on the invisible steps as they proceed.

Though he didn't provide much help earlier, Torinn takes the lead up the flight of stairs, acting as a shield for whatever lies ahead.

Carefully, Sureiya steps on the now not-so invisible ladder, and continues with the travel.

With the effect created by the psionic shaman, traversing the stairs proves to be an easy task for the party. Higher and higher they climb, until they reach an egress. A single pathway that leads to a slightly darker white, more grayish, heavy-looking door. A large, red crystal of sorts is set into the middle of the door, and appears to be the only means of interacting with it.

When Myn assesses the magical energies the crystal faintly emanates, he determines that the door is locked. Though it is a magical lock, anyone versed in the arts of lock-picking would still have an easier go at it than attempting to undo the lock via magic.

Thievery (moderate DC) or Arcana (hard DC) can unlock the door. If the Knock ritual were to be used, it would be against the Thievery DC. Arcana can be used to provide Aid Another for the Thievery attempt, or vice versa.

Sariel eyes the door to see if there's any obvious traps, but there's nothing obvious etc.

Sureiya sticks his thievery tools in the lock, and steadily prods it until the door begins to slide open. The half-orc quickly stows his tools and draws his blades as the scene inside is revealed: an expansive study, occupied by a purple-wearing eladrin male and a massive silver dragon. The dragon is standing on a ritual circle, which is obviously active, as blue energy is swirling violently around and over the dazed-looking silver dragon.

"Halt, interlopers," the wearer in purple calls out, pointing his elven rod in your direction threateningly. "The spell has already been cast. There is nothing more you can do."

The relevant check for the silver dragon knowledge is nature.

Sureiya moves into position and takes a quick glance around the room, finding nothing suspicious, then prepares to hurl his blade. The mage follows, shooting a colorful orb of radiant energy at the caster, which is easily evaded. However, Sariel quickly reaches into her deepest reserves of strength to launch a second attack, creating a horde of illusionary warriors to distract and damage the Wearer of Purple, which Sureiya follows by hurling his farbond spellblade twice--the first attack again misses, but the second connects, slicing through the eladrin's shoulder.

Talar yelps a bit but holds firm, saying, "Our plans go greater than you could imagine! With a powerful dragon like Halvangh under our control, we'll be unstoppable!"

For his part, Talar shifts his gaze towards Sureiya and exclaims, "You, kill them!" However, his psychic lures are resisted by the stalwart ranger, mostly thanks to the distracting presence of the cavalier--whose radiance burns the eladrin for its transgression.

Sureiya quickly investigates the circle, finding some runes that are quite similar to those seen in primal magic, and points them out to the shaman. Sariel moves in to manipulate the magic directly, focusing her powers on the arcane runes before her, successfully unraveling a single "thread" of the spell. Torinn's call to the dragon causes it to stir slightly, perhaps signifying a sense of resistance.

Urged on by her successes, Sariel intensifies the strain of magic pouring into the ritual. The Eladrin weaves strands of her own magic into the ritual, pulsing and rocking with the intent of disrupting the entire flow of the ritual.

Looking the ritual seems a bit weaker now, Sureiya attempts to use his little knowlogement about the runes he was able to recognize and attempts to mess with the ones in the floor. Using his sword, Sureiya clash it against the magic circle and use it to cut throught it.

When she senses the ritual getting disrupted, Sariel's eyes spring open as she spins to the half-orc, thrusting an accusing finger at him.

"You! What kind of bloat-headed fool are you?!" Sariel scowls. "Arcane magic is not some toy to mess with by stabbing a sword at it!"

Listening at the Wizard reclaims, the ranger simply grins and reply
"Worry not Milady. I know what I am doing here"
