"YOU MURDERER!

Battler pushes off the ground with fists raised high.

I'll try and pick up anything I can find to use as a weapon.

"Bullshit!" yells Battler.
His fist skims your face. You can feel it brush by as you fall backwards, before catching yourself.

"Ever since the start you've been the most suspicious. You claims are empty!" Battler raises his fists once again and rushes at you.

Jumping out of the way on your one good leg you attempt to dodge Battler's attack. Something is wrong however, Battler is moving faster than normal. His fist meets your gut and the pain shoots through your body.

"What's this? You took Jessica's attacks no problem. Maybe that wound is having an effect on you. Don't worry I'll put you out of your misery." Battler taunts as he winds up for another assault.

He is wrong, you can feel that you leg has nothing to do with this, it's something else...

"Just like I thought, you can't even think of a way you couldn't have committed this crimes, leaving the only possibility is that you did it." Battler is meters away from hitting you with another punch!

"That's terrible logic! Just because I can't prove I'm innocent doesn't mean I'm guilty! Can you prove yourself innocent?!"

You attack Battler who blocks your fist.
"I was in the other hallway, while you killed MY OWN FATHER! YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE HERE!" Battler raises another punch.

"Don't forget about Eva and Hideyoshi either! More than one person saw you sneaking around before they were murdered!"

"I didn't kill him! He was like this when I got here! There has to be someone else hiding here! And you're just as likely a suspect for killing Eva and Hideyoshi as I am!"

You put your arms up in defense to Battler's attack. Battler continues.

"Look around you idiot. There is no where to hide in this burning mess!"
Battler is right, the walls connecting to the bathroom and the closet have collapsed and the only furniture that was intact until just then was the bed, which is now snapped in half.

Battler seems to have waved off your comment about Eva and Hideyoshi.
"What about my mom and Genji death? You could have been pretending to be knocked out!" Battler yells.

"You really think I could leave the boiler room, kill those two, and come back before you woke up?! That's insane!"

I grab hold of my pen.

Battler's attack is still coming for you and it hits you straight on the shoulder.

"I'm sure there was bounds of time. Afterwards you stabbed yourself to make it seem like you weren't the culprit!"

You grab your pen out of your pocket. As you do Battler backs off a bit, but only for a second.

"You were the first one to find Kyrie's corpse! Considering I never entered that room, it's entirely possible you killed her without me knowing it!"

I attempt to stab Battler's eye with my pen!

You lunge at Battler with your pen. Battler raises his hand.

"Accusing me for killing my own parents again? Fine, then what about the boiler exploding? Ruon said that you were sneaking around there yesterday."

He grabs your hand and flings it away, successfully evading your attack. The pen goes flying out of your grasp and falls down into broken floorboard.

You hear the frame of the building to to quake.

I take out the silver spoon and try and stab Battler with that!

"Her alibi is completely solid for Eva and Hideyoshi's murder!"

The two of you lock arms, Battler blocking your attack as you block his.

I kick Battler in the crotch for a critical hit!

Battler raises his knee just in time to defend.

"So what, she is an accomplice now? Let me guess, your going to say that I got her to help me? Such a stupid truth, I won't let it pass!"

"Regardless of the other murders, were you alibi are as vague as mine, you messed up. You killed my dad while I was still around. You're the only person here Kinjo! How could have it been someone else!?"
Battler headbutts you right in the forehead, your ears ring.

"All the culprit had to do was hide inside the utility room! Then as we went upstairs they followed behind us! You didn't see the culprit because you were trying to get into the guest room! The culprit then stabbed Rudolf while we were both distracted and left using one of this room's windows!! You can't just blame this on me!!!"

Assuming the bed isn't on fire, I jump on top of it to gain the higher ground.

You jump onto the shamble of a bed. Battler waves his hand like he is waving your theory away.

"Like hell they did. Look! All the windows in this room are locked from the inside."
He is again right, due to the walls of the bathroom and closet falling you can see that the windows are somehow still intact. Not to mention you can see the locks from where you are, they are both set.

Battler is lunging at you for another assault.

"Are you kidding me?! Well then they left through the book archive's windows! Want to check it out?!"

"The book archives? That whole portion of the hallway was blocked off. I think I'm the one who should be asking you if you are joking."

Battler fist is about to hit you in the face.

You take Battler's attack. He is shocked for a second, in that time to make your move and retaliate. You knee sinks into Battler's stomach and he staggers.

"What?" Battler puts some ground between the two of you.
"I never checked so that might actually... Wait, no" Battler stand tall again.
"When we got separated from Jessica and Ruon those banisters that blocked our path were the same ones that blocked our way up here. They would have been blocking the second floor hallway from before we even went to the second floor!"

"If I'm not mistaken we're already past those banisters. So clearly there's nothing stopping anyone from entering the book archives."

"You mean the door?" Battler takes a glance at the door, but quickly looks back at you. Take a closer look."
The door is now on fire , however you are just able to tell that the deadbolt is set. Of course the chain is cut from when Genji helped you get back into your room.

"I'm tired of you. Face it, you are the only person who could have done this."

"...This room's going to burn both of us to death if we don't think of something quick. Are you satisfied with that?"

"Escaping is no problem. I'm just making sure you don't."

The two of you stare at each other. The building is creaking and cracking. It sounds like it's about to fall. Battler opens his mouth in inhales deeply, only to start coughing. It's nothing serious as he puts his hand up to his mouth and coughs once more and then spits some thread out on to his hand.

Battler looks back at you, however he double takes to his hand. "What the..." he mumbles.

I make one last attempt to escape by going straight for the window nearest to me! I'll unlock it and open it and jump out into the snow!!!

You rush towards the door in fury. Embers fly past your face. Battler throws away the black thread and chases after you. You get to the window and unlock it. However that gives Battler just enough time to grab you from behind.

At that moment the room seems to fall apart and it all tilts. The whole structure is collapsing. Battler loses his grip on you as you both fall forward into the window. The glass shatters while you both fly through. As if suspended in the air you see the sky. It's dark and the snow falls slowly.

Gravity takes it's tole on you, as you began to fall. Twisting around just in time to see the snow coming closer to your face.

You hit the white blanket and your vision goes black, you can feel the cold upon you skin. You hear the building fall to pieces in one last boom. Finally the world seems to fade into nothingness.

Your vision is slowly coming back. The silences is almost deafening after that last event. Your tired body feels worn out. However looking down you can see that you appear perfectly fine, your wound is gone. The area around you is starting to become apparent now. You are back in the same room you talked to that man. This time there is no light show. Or rather, there are hardly any lights at all. It’s almost pitched black.

“So you have finally arrived.” A voice echoes from within the thick darkness before you.

“You know, I almost got tired of waiting. If it wasn’t for that last minute duel in which you fruitlessly attempted to vindicate yourself I may have just decided to just kill you off in order to speed things up.” The voice giggles.

It’s now obviously that this is not the man you once talked to. The voice is unmistakably female.

Out of the darkness a new sound emerges, footsteps. Slowly, one at a time they get closer. As if filling the darkness, a figure appears. With a body to match the voice, the figure in front of you makes her way to the seat opposing yours. It’s a girl.

“Well then. “ The girl says, “How shall we do this?”

"How assuming. At least I won't have to explain myself. Regardless I was referring to the game" she says as she seats herself in the chair opposed to you.

“With you still on the board in both this world and the game’s world, it is impossible for me to have a complete win unless you lose.” She waves her hand and out of the darkness a tea set crawls towards her. Stopping beside the chair she now sits, the tea pot then pours itself, brewing a cup a tea. The girl grabs the cup and takes a sip, while simultaneously the tea set vanishes.

"You see, for my plan to reach fruition I originally thought getting rid of that foolish man would be enough. However it seems he was smarter than the other ‘game masters’ (not that most of them even deserve that title). Unlike the others he split his world into two parts.” She grins from ear to ear. “Only after I had dealt with him did I realize there was more than one piece to the puzzle. That last piece… is you.”

"Oh, so I'm not dead yet? That's nice. But you should probably let Ozaki continue to play his game with me. He's been waiting forever to get to this part, so to kick him out right now would be pretty mean."

“Hmm? Oh, you don’t have to worry about that.” The girl snaps her fingers and a spotlight shines down into the darkness. In the middle of the shining light is a castle fallen to bits. The walls have been bashed to near rubble. A thick brown moss grows over the sides of the walls. The towers have been stripped bare and all that is left is the white stairway once supporting the structure.

The castle may even be considered a piece of art, maybe of a once forgotten kingdom that is… If it wasn’t made of flesh!!! The meat walls completely fall distorting the illusion; inside the castle gates you can clearly see the destroyed face of the man. The white bones fall giving way to the moat and crushing the gate.

The girl laughs yet again. “He sure gave me some trouble you know; every time I solved a closed room he would stall for time, trying to get me to explain every single piece of my theory. Not to mention he kept disappearing, presumably to answer your requests.“

She gets up and starts to walk, “That man actually had the tenacity to placed restrictions on himself. One which go as follows:

The girl laughs, this time it is coarse and inelegant. “In other words, now that I'm the game master; whichever one of us wins, gets to leave~”

“Since the restrictions are still in place it looks like I have no choice but to use the same ones that man used. They are as follows:


It will start with the howdunits. For each howdunit you get three blue truths you must use in attempt to solve them. As long as you are still talking about the same theory, it still counts as one blue. Any time during the howdunit section you are allowed to use a skip, which means you’ll get to pause where you are on one howdunit, and move to the next one. Of course you will have to come back to it eventually. Additionally, if you run out of your three blues you’ll receive a penalty mark.

If you get 5 penalty marks you lose.

Once every howdunit is solved, only then you can go to the whodunit/whydunnit. If you pick the wrong person for the whodunit you’ll automatically get one prenatally mark, however if you still have yet to hit 5 then you may try again immediately.

From her hand a long menacing scythe appears. Swinging it in an arching motion the tables and chairs disappears. The room expands and is now large enough to run around comfortably. The girl swings upwards and the sky turns red.

First Howdunit.

The fragile shell of a human with her fat lard of a husband found inside a locked room.

"Come Kinjo, lets hear your pitiful theories!"

Illusions to illusions. An event with no observer is nothing more than an illusion.

First theory. There is no locked room. By the time I, the detective, had arrived at the scene, the door was already open. The phonecall between Krauss and Genji was simply a facade to make me believe the room was locked and the chain had been set in the first place!

"Haha is that all you've got? This will go quicker than I imagined!"

As your blue light enters the room it is immediately destroyed but the torrential down pour of red rain that falls from the crimson sky.

When Battler and Genji arrived to the room, both the chain and deadbolt was set. The lock on the window was also set!

Second theory. The culprit entered during the night, and stabbed Hideyoshi in his sleep. Eva later entered in a drunken stupor. The culprit killed her too. After washing their hands, the culprit then set the chain and locked the door, then propped Eva up with some random object tied to string. The culprit then left using the window; as the window shut the string was pulled in such a way that Eva would fall forward and hit the window with her head, cracking it and damaging her skull. Eva's body would then fall on top of the window's lock and lock it in place from the inside!

Your blue is yet again riddled with holes as the red rain falls. The splashes it makes spells out words.

The culprit never used the window to enter or leave the room.

A part of your bangs falls to the ground.

Third theory. The culprit poisoned drinks which were taken to Eva and Hideyoshi's room, as there was a tea set found in the room. If something as simple as a child sedative was added to an alcoholic drink, it'd be fatal. As for the stab wounds, the corpses were stabbed after the closed room had been deconstructed!

Eva and Hideyoshi died from the wound you investigated. To kill them, the culprit went right up to them, and stabbed them!

Once the red fades you notice the girl has disappeared again.
Right beside your ear you hear something whispered.

Erika appears in front of you, smiling. Her scythe is dripping red.

Ripping through your head is pure pain. You first hear it, then you see it.
Your left arm has been cut clean off!

Second howdunit.

The once proud figure who drank till sick, collapsed to nothing but a drooling heap.

"Lets see if you can do any better this time around!"

Earth to earth. No falsehoods in his final moments as told

First theory. Krauss's drink was poisoned. This poison is what killed him.

"Heh, taking that tactic?
If that is the case then explain this!

Krauss successively tested for poison using his equipment. When Battler, Krauss and you entered, there was no poison in or on anything in the room. "

The drink to which I am referring was brought with Krauss from the parlor. So of course it wasn't inside study!

Or, the drink which Krauss drank in the study wasn't poisoned at all, but he had been given a drink of something else earlier in the day! And those drinks caused a chemical reaction which created a poison inside of him!

Or, the poison was inserted into Krauss's drink after we entered the room! For example, a leaking ceiling could provide a way for the poison to drop into the drink without it being in the room first!

What killed Krauss was not brought into the room by Battler, Krauss, or Kinjo.
What killed Krauss came into contact with him inside of the study and no where else.

Trap - a device set up previously so that at a later time it can be triggered (without the culprit touching it) in order to harm or kill.

Krauss was served a drink the night before. This is the drink that was poisoned. Of course, he drank this drink in the study, and it was brought in by the culprit. Its effects were not immediate, as it took nearly twelve hours for him to die.

Second theory. It's not the drink that killed him, but the glass shards entering his skull. There was nothing poisonous about the drink, but it was alcoholic enough for him to lose his balance and crash into killer glass bottles.

Going back to my first theory. The drink was indeed poisoned, but it was not poisoned when the three of us entered the study. At some point in between our entrance and Krauss's death, the drink went from "not poisoned" to "poisoned".

If you look at a map of the study, there are two windows perpendicular to each other. Krauss looked out of one window; while he was doing so a substance was tossed in through the other window, landing inside Krauss's drink.

Then, the ceiling. There are various holes in the ceiling that the culprit dropped a chemical through!

"That is correct. The culprit dropped the poison into Krauss's cup through a hole in the ceiling.

Don't get cocky now. That was one of the easier ones!"

"Even if you solve one or two, you only have 4 more parts I can cut. Do you really think that will be enough!?"

Third howdunnit.

The housewife reduced to nothing but a safe-house.

First theory. Natsuhi entered the right room, tripped on the string, which was tied to the trigger of the gun on the left room. This caused the gun to fire at her and kill her.

Natsuhi was shot by the gun post-mortem. She did not trip on the string.

"That's one blue down."

Second theory. The culprit was hiding in the storage room. Natsuhi ran inside and was confronted by the culprit there. The culprit sliced her neck, killing her, and then shoved her body in the right closet. Then they set up the string and gun in the left closet. Then they left using the door and locked it with a key, and blended in with the others. Afterward they triggered the gun to sound which brought everyone's attention to that room.

If that's the case then how did the string get back into the room like it was found?"

You wouldn't even need to pull it. Natsuhi was holding something that was burnt. Probably a candle. This candle was shot by the gun, thus putting it out once its purpose of burning the string had been served.

The ashes around Natsuhi were the documents that were inside of the metal box. They play no part in the howdunit.

Natsuhi's neck was cut, and her larynx had a matching cut. This means the same spot was cut twice. In other words, the culprit cut her to kill her, then set up a trap to cut the string after a certain amount of time passed, which once again cut Natsuhi.

"I don't see this mystical trap X used to cut the string anywhere!"

Scratch that. The string was simply pulled by something long and thin that can fit under the door frame. Both ends of the string were securely connected to the gun and Natsuhi respectively, until the gun shot the right end of the string off, so tugging on the string wouldn't move it anywhere.

Don't you remember that both doors inside of the storage room were closed when you entered?

When we found the gun Battler had already tugged on the string, causing something in that closet to fall. That was the gun falling. So when it shot Natsuhi it was in a different location than where it was found.

When you Battler, Genji, and Rudolf entered the storage room, there was only a single gun inside. That gun hasn't been shot even once this entire game!

"I believe that's the second blue, one more left. Ahahaha!"

Third theory. There were a number of broken tools in the room. These tools were used by the culprit to kill Natsuhi and create all the wounds on her body. The gunshot was a recording and the gun was a red herring! All the culprit had to do was stab Natsuhi as she entered the room, set up the string and shut all the doors. Then the culprit locked the door with their key!

The tools inside the shed were not used to kill Natsuhi!

With a blinding flash of red Erika disappears from sight.

All the culprit had to do was stab Natsuhi as she entered the room, set up the string and shut all the doors!!! This doesn't require any of the other parts of my theory to be true!

It's entirely possible that the gun was intended to be used but never was, because there was no ammo inside of it! So it was set up in that room beforehand! Natsuhi entered to find the documents which the letter was referring to, and she burned them! The noise that they all heard wasn't a gunshot, but some other noise that sounded like one!

And finally, the culprit didn't even have to enter the room! They cut Natsuhi before she entered! So when she did go inside, she locekd the door, but because her larynx was cut she had trouble breathing! Once she burned the documents the fire stole the oxygen in the air from her, causing her to suffocate inside her own closed room!

Forth Howdunit

The butler found swimming in the shrouded darkness.

*ahem* I've been following this fascinating game for a while, and I decided to look back through the story from the start to see if I could figure the tricks out before they were revealed, since the game is coming to an end.
