You go inside the parlor and find that it is empty. You can see the garbage of the presents you saw beforehand were left on the ground. In fact, everything looks as if everyone dropped what they were doing and left.

Outside you notice the snow has gotten up to your knees. It's hard to see with all the snow however in the distance you can see a figure shoveling snow. Leading from the mansion to the direction to the guesthouse is a path dug out of the snow.

You walk down the pathway and pass the figure. It was Genji. He gives a slight bow as you pass and then you continue to the guesthouse.

You are now in the guesthouse.

I'll unlock my door and enter my room, gathering my suitcase and art supplies.

You walk through the guesthouse to your room, as you do you can here many voices occupying the other guest rooms. You enter your room and close the door. While gathering your stuff you notice a piece of paper on your suitcase. It simply says "When you have the time, come to the book archive."

Ignoring that letter for now, I shut and lock the door, and set the chain.

First I take the scissors and strip the coaxial cable so that only the copper wire core remains.

I then take the iron nails and use some of the clay and some of the string to connect pairs of them together in a U-shape, essentially making five U-shaped nails, so that the gaps between the ends of the U are as small as possible.

Next I wrap the copper wire around the U-shaped nails until there is no wire left, making sure the wire is as tightly packed as possible, even if it means not every U-shaped nail is wrapped in wire.

I use the final bit of string and clay to connect all five U-shaped nails together by the strings to hold all five nails at the same time, one wrapped around each finger of my right hand.

Finally I attach the two ends of the copper wire on only one of the U-shaped nails to the two ends of one of the AA batteries and test out my newly created magnet-chucks on the spare change I have in my wallet.

I move the magnet-chucks back and forth over the 100-yen coin.

Does the coin move, or not?

I disconnect the battery and place my five magnet-chucks, batteries, and leftover art supplies inside my suitcase, which I then store in the closet.

Suddenly I come to the realization that despite the fact my room was locked, someone entered and placed that letter there. That's a violation of privacy!

I grab my coat, go to the bathroom and attempt to jump out the window while also closing it from the outside.

As you walk around to the front of the guesthouse you see Genji yet again. He stops shoveling when he sees you but before he can say anything you enter the guesthouse. You then go to the book archive.
When you open the door you get a large whiff of smoke. Over by one of the windows is Hideyoshi puffing at a cigarette. You close the door behind you and the sound causes him to turn around.

"So you got my note." He looks up. "Kinjo, I know you are already aware, but three years my son was murdered. The events on that day caused much pain to the whole family, and we had all thought it would be best to forget about it. However deep down, deep down I know that the culprit is here, and I'm sure other family members think the same way." He takes a short puff of his cigarette, and looks like he is thinking about how to word the next part. "Although Krauss and some of the other family members will disagree with this; I want to help you solve this case. To put my son to rest." When delivering the last part of the statement he finally looks you in the eyes. The eyes of determination.

"Ah, so the one who sent that letter was you... Well, don't worry, I fully intend to solve this case. But unfortunately I don't know much about it. Could you go into more detail, please? About the circumstances of that day, three years ago?"

I take out my notepad and pen, and take notes.

"I believe it said that it was no coincidence that 'he' showed up here. I assume this 'he' is you, and it then went on to say that once you find the culprit, they will try to kill them. That was the jist of it.

"You may not know this but before the incident the family used to get together once a year on this island. Three years ago was no exception. That year however was slightly different. Firstly; during that day the old family head, Kinzo announced who would take his place. Secondarily; a girl proclaiming herself as 'Furudo Erika; The Detective' washed up on the island.

The person who Kinzo picked was George. However there was a catch, he would only succeed the head if he was able solve a riddle. So that night George had stayed up while everyone went to sleep in attempt to solve it.

The next morning though, he had disappeared. We searched for him, and eventually a servant reported that they found a puddle of blood seeping from underneath a door. Well, you could call it a door, but it was more of a steel wall. To enter the room we had to use a welding torch.

Once we got inside, we found him. Dead. With a bullet wound in his skull. We attempted to call the police but the line was down due to the storm. Our next course of action was to tell Kinzo what happened. When we went to talk to him however the servants who had stayed with him during the night informed us that Kinzo had passed away. During that time we learned of something else troubling. All the servants were called to Kinzo's room along with Dr. Nanjo (Kinzo's physician). However two servants had left the study before morning and were never seen from again. Their names were Kanon and Shannon. They instantly became suspects.

We decided to stay inside the parlor until the police arrived. However while inside the parlor we noticed the guest Erika had also disappeared. Unlike the others she returned. With the decapitated head of George in her hands. I would rather not go over this part, what she did was pure evil. Mutilating the body, then rubbing body parts on to the family members. I'm getting sick just thinking about it. You've seen my wife Eva right? She didn't always used to be so quiet, it was due to this experience that she has become a shell of her former self.

Anyway, after that, Krauss managed to knock Erika out and we tied her up and locked her in the storage room until the police arrived. When they did they interrogated us, after investigating of course. They never found Kanon or Shannon. Not to mention that when they opened the storage room Erika had vanished too. Because all the possible suspects had vanished they never pinned it on someone. After that the family conferences never again happened. A few months ago Krauss had the idea to hold this party to close the old wounds and put everything behind us. Looks like that failed."

Hideyoshi takes a breath and a few puffs a smoke. There is a stunned silence.

"I believe that is everything, if you have anymore questions go ahead."

"Ange was sick that year, so she couldn't come" He adds.

I don't think it would be possible to show you it. After the police stop investigating Krauss had cement poured over the entrance. Although I imagine there must be other entrances judging from the amount of tunnels, I don't know where any of them are and the one we used is a no go.

"I see. Can you at least tell me where the old entrance used to be, then?"

"Well, it was behind the chapel. In fact it was actually a well. Although personally I think it's impossible to enter through there. There is a lot of cement, you'd need dynamite or something."

After follows a rather long silence which is then broken by a knock on the door. "Hideyoshi, are you in there?" It's Krauss.

Hideyoshi motions for you to hide and you do so. "Yes I'm here" Krauss then enters.

"Smoking in the book archives? I'd rather have to outside doing that." says Krauss. "Anyway, Your wife wants you."
Hideyoshi looks up. "Eva does? Alright I better go then." Before he can leave the room Krauss gently grabs his shoulder.
"One more thing, I've heard from a servant that the guest may be running around. If you see him make sure to tell me." He says simply while looking at Hideyoshi. he then says something else really soft, you can't here what it was.

"Will do." With that Hideyoshi leaves, and you and Krauss are left inside the room.

You run downstairs, making a ton of noise in the process. When you finally exit the guesthouse you come face to face to Genji.

"Kinjo-sama what seems to be the problem?"

"Is that so." He looks at you for a moment. "Well I shall get the clippers then"
"What is going on here?" You turn to see Krauss standing in the doorway. Genji informs him of the situation.

"I see. You didn't by any chance unlock the windows did you? I'd rather not cut a chain." His gaze seems to be implying something.

"Very well then. Lets go get the clippers"

Genji, Krauss and you go back inside the guesthouse and into the utility room. Genji takes out a key and unlocks the trap door. He goes down it then comes back up with the clippers. The three of you then go up to your room.

Krauss reaches over to the door and turns the handle. It is locked.
'May I have the key Kinjo?"

I take out the key and unlock the door myself.

You unlock the door and show that the chain is set. Genji then snips it in half with the clippers.

"So Kinjo, would you care to explain why you locked the door again if the chain was already set? I mean surely if you had found the chain blocking your entrance you wouldn't have needed to lock it again before finding Genji."

"...I didn't lock the door! It should have been unlocked, it shouldn't have had the chain set...! First the chain gets set while I'm outside the room, and then the door gets locked while getting the chain cutter...I don't have a clue what's going on!"

"Oh is that so? It was locked while you were getting the cutters?" Krauss simply grins and snickers a bit.

"Well enjoy your sleep then."

Krauss and Genji then walk down the hall down stairs. As they do you notice Krauss whisper something to Genji who responds with a nod. They are now out of sight.

You are suddenly woken up and you open your eyes. You sit up and take a look around. You’re in…the parlor?
Yes, that must be it, no other room looks like this. You are on one of the single chairs sitting around a table inside the parlor. On the other chairs Natsuhi and Rosa are sitting talking to one another.

All of the sudden there is a huge sound and the doors fly past your head and crash into the back wall of the room. There, standing in the door way, is Ushiromiya Kinzo. His figure is an overwhelming feeling of power, you can literally feel the enmity coming from him. He is holding two golden swords. Like an eagle about to hunt he straightens his back and lunges in your direction.

Blood flies everywhere, the world is stained red. In that split second, Kinzo took one of his swords and cut Natsuhi from the nave to the chaps. Rosa was not spared. Kinzo had plunged the other sword through her head while he was busy with Natsuhi. It happened in a matter of seconds.

Kinzo then turned his gaze on you. Out of nowhere he throws one of his swords down at your feet. He opens his mouth and bellows “COME KINJO, LET US KILL EVERYONE!” and then runs off like a little school girl who just got a love letter. You can hear more and more people getting killed in the hallway while Kinzo laughs “DUE TO COMPUTER PROBLEMS, WHEN SOLUTION FOUND, TIME RESET!”

What in god’s name does that mean?

“It’s okay” A voice childish voice breaks the horror that just took place. After you hear the voice your body gets slowly lifted into the air and is slowly turned to the other end of the room. Once you are turned around it make sense. The horrible truth becomes apparent from what the voice says next.
