I think you'll find even the most boring of tasks can be enjoyable when you've got something else you should really be doing instead.
For example, the normally boring act of reading through an uninteresting thread begins to seem much more worthwhile than that novel you should really be working on instead! Or refreshing the page to no avail when you could otherwise be cleaning up that mess that seems to accumulate itself perpetually!

I'm in despair! The way people always find ways to procrastinate when they have other tasks more deserving of their attention has left me in despair!

My water has been shut off for the third time this month, and on top of that it's a fairly hot morning - which is unusual considering it's been snowing a bit these past few days. The water doesn't get turned back on for a few hours so I just need to survive without dehydrating until then!

Other than that, I feel fantastic. And, for the first time in god only knows how long, I feel motivated to do... something. I know quite know what, I just really feel like doing something.

How about you, how have you been keeping lately~?

That's alright, It doesn't have to be right this minute of course. Just give it some thought and try come up with an idea for a story you would like to read.
As a writer, I've found it much easier working to some kind of template or predetermined idea rather than being left to write whatever I please. It's quite ironic, but that way I can really let my mind work to its fullest and write even better stories than usual!

Also, the most important thing for a writer is to write something that somebody would like to read. He must keep his reader in mind at all times and see things from their perspective in order to write a truly fantastic story. "Without love, it cannot be seen", etc.

My weak spot, huh? I wonder about that. What will ultimately lead to my downfall? I guess it's hard to say. Many times I've taken my weaknesses and turned them into strengths, ever-fluid like a river and ever-changing like the world itself. I suppose that, in itself, is probably my weakness. My unpredictability which makes it impossible for even me to ever know "everything" about myself. I can never tell what I'm going to think or how I'm going to feel, as I change completely at the drop of a hat.

I've written children's stories once or twice. I believe one was about a bird who found a key to a shed and met a tortoise inside, and the two set out on a wacky adventure down to a river or something. It was a few years ago and I don't remember much about it aside from that, but it was a fairly fun story.

Err, by a "dirty dime-cheap novel", do you mean erotic fiction? I do have some experience in that field of writing, more so than Nasu at least.

That's exactly right. I have nothing to define myself and nothing to my name. I am unique in that I am the most common of them all. Exceptionally average in most every way, hence the name "John Smith".
And it's only natural, as a doppelganger I have impersonated those with an ego so inflated it has made a noticeable impact in me. I have also been influenced by those with so much self-loathing that they may as well have some kind of guilt complex. I am a patchwork doll of all the various masks of this world, you see~

Consider your perspective a contradiction. As much as I refuse to agree with it, it makes sense in a way. Though I must inquire.

What do you see in this world, this consciousness bestowed upon humans? Is it right or wrong to maintain this illusion? Are people getting too carried away with themselves? Is it egoistic to consider ourselves superior to animals?

I see this world for what it is. A collection of matter and particles which interact with each other in certain ways and provoke various reactions because of this. The world is nothing more than a poorly-oiled machine to me, one which I have little desire of conforming to. I don't function as part of the "society machine", I function outside of and independent of it.
As for "consciousness", it's hard to say. Essentially all "consciousness" is, is electrical signals being transmitted through the brain and the body. Another reaction of energy and particles, just another machine in a world of machines, albeit one that doesn't always function adequately.

>Is it right or wrong to maintain this illusion?
This farce we perceive as "reality" is neither right nor wrong. Because reality, itself, has no idea of the concept of "right" or "wrong". This world doesn't know the difference between the two and so, objectively speaking, neither can be applied to it in a way that would make logical sense.
However, machines are built to function. If the machine works then I say it's fine to leave the cogs turning away for as long as they will, until they day they all rust and turn no longer.

>Are people getting too carried away with themselves?
Emotions are all caused by substances and chemicals which the body produces. If people are getting too "carried away", then it's likely due to a chemical imbalance within themselves. Of course, this is the result of our evolution, so I'd say yes, as a whole humanity tend to get far too carried away with themselves sometimes.

>Is it egoistic to consider ourselves superior to animals?
It's egotistical to even consider ourselves superior to the food we eat, or the trash we throw away. When you get right down to it we are all composed of matter, as are animals, as is trash. We are all identical in that we share this single basic trait, we are tangible and we have form.
That said, there are elements which hold more value than others. A human composed of a great many elements is obviously more valuable than, say, a rat made up of a comparatively small number of elements. In that way we are indeed superior to animals, but that's only physical worth or value. Are humans, as a species, superior to animals? Yes, for the most part. Though there are some humans which rank below even trash, and likewise some animals which rank below even these worthless humans.

>I don't function as part of the "society machine", I function outside of and independent of it.

I may be interpreting this wrongly. But if I recall, your cousin is currently supporting you, am I correct? Where does your cousin get the financial means to do so? This 'society machine', I believe. It provides you with food, electricity, clothing and the very computer you are using to type this wall of text right now. Naturally being unemployed puts you outside the society, but are you truly independent of it?
The way I see it, if not for this 'machine', even becoming a beggar is impossible. While this society is somewhat inadequate at times, you are still living off it. Ironic, is it not?

>This farce we perceive as "reality" is neither right nor wrong.

Sadly, this farce has been integrated into our minds and senses from the moment we take our first breath till this current point in time. Regardless of 'reality' being right or wrong, another question remains. Is it worth living in this 'reality', or is death a better option? (Putting aside the fact that you've evaded death constantly.)

>Of course, this is the result of our evolution, so I'd say yes, as a whole humanity tend to get far too carried away with themselves sometimes.

Would it for the better if humans never evolved to what they are now? Wouldn't life be so much simpler and free of conflict if we remained as animals imbued with only the desire to survive and reproduce?

>Though there are some humans which rank below even trash, and likewise some animals which rank below even these worthless humans.

Animals that rank below these worthless humans? What have they done to deserve such a ranking? Also, if you don't mind, I would like to hear about these humans who rank below trash, seeing that you're no better than a leech yourself.

>But if I recall, your cousin is currently supporting you, am I correct? Where does your cousin get the financial means to do so?
Let me tell you a funny joke. Once upon a time there was a man who chose to live in a world of his own, totally separate from the outside. This man desired naught but to be left alone, at which point a man calling himself a "psychiatrist" called the man a lunatic and slapped a label of insanity upon him.
This label in turn made the "society machine" provide money for the man, as he was "unable to work". Thus the man was able to live a comfortable life as a hermit for the rest of his days, bothering nobody and being bothered by nobody. Neither a burden nor a help, the man's presence became like the very air itself.

>Is it worth living in this 'reality', or is death a better option?
So that you can rot in the ground as a corpse? It all depends on your situation I guess, but even a homeless man is blessed enough to live above the soil rather than beneath it to be forever encased in a prison of wood until his body decays.

>Wouldn't life be so much simpler and free of conflict if we remained as animals imbued with only the desire to survive and reproduce?
It would be a simple life, free of silly worries like whether or not the oven was turned off when you went out or whether or not your wife is cheating on you with the next door neighbor, etc. It's subjective, but if a life like that sounds more desirable than the way things currently are, then I suppose it would at least be a much simpler life.

>Also, if you don't mind, I would like to hear about these humans who rank below trash, seeing that you're no better than a leech yourself.
Worse than a leech, lower even than trash. I take the money society throws at me, only to throw it back at them in return for food and shelter. My life is at an equilibrium of absolute zero. I take only the bare minimum need to survive and contribute only the bare minimum necessary to live. My existence has zero worth, I've basically been given a free pass and told to do whatever the hell I feel like. Nothing I'll do would have any consequence overall anyway, so why bother doing anything at all? I am the same as the air, only of slightly less value to the world as, unfortunately, I cannot be inhaled and aid in the continuation of other lives outside of my own.

Drugs. Take as much as you please, then sleep without an alarm. I'll recommend lozenges when you're awake.

Why wasn't this man thrown into one of those those wonderful mental institutions used to house lunatics lest they go berserk?

Air does not leech oxygen and contribute carbon dioxide. Nor does it post on an imageboard, pirate stuff from the internet, read visual novels, samefag and watch anime.

Most likely because he posed no threat to himself or others. Up here nothing short of cracking your step-father across the back of the head with a golf club will get you sent to one of those places, apparently.

>Air does not leech oxygen and contribute carbon dioxide.
Touché. As for the rest, nothing of value was lost, etc.

... Hearing about all these medical/school benefits etc in the West makes me question how charitable the various governments can be sometimes.
Over here, giving a person such as yourself enough to live for the rest of his/her life would be considered blasphemy.
