First, summon Thrackerzod. Beware of his attempts to fool you; he is not an ordinary person. He is not a person at all. Ask him questions about the meaning of life. Beware, you may go mad.

After learning about life, carry out a moon base operation. Run for president with Ron Paul. If you fail you must to run again. If you have won, set up a moon base operation. Go onto the moon and contact some moonbitches. They shall try to kill you. Summon Thrackerzod again and they will fight to the death. Eventually Thrackerzod will achieve victory. After killing the moonbitches, go back to Earth and read tons of mystery novels and go to college.

You have successfully become a good mystery creator, congratulations.

Just go read some of the classics. Doyle, Christie, Van Dine, Sayers, Carr, even Knox just to name a few. Basically the Golden Age. The more you read them and the more you theorize you will start to see what makes a good mystery from you own interpretations and conclusions.

You should try and find time. Take 20-60 minutes out of your normal schedule each day and in about a year you will have read quite a few. You could even treat it like studying.

Well regardless, if you are looking for an easy method then your out of luck. To be come a 'good mystery creator' it would take time and effort.

If you just want to come up with a closed room or something simple then "just take 3 ideas that may or may not be original and then put them into one mystery". Creativity and realism is all it really takes to make a skeleton of a closed room. Well that and the basics.

Either way you will need to read. Try this, along with the examples. Most of them are not as long as a full novel so it would be a start.

Or you could study humans in every single aspect ever imaginable. That would also give you a pretty good idea of a murder mystery.

If reading is too difficult or time-consuming you could always cheat and watch movies/tv shows. The TV series Poirot (starring David Suchet) is actually really accurate to the novels, and a great way to cover a lot of material in a short time (each book is an episode which can range from 1 to 2 hours long)

I studied, I researched, I read, and much much more. And due to circumstances I also dropped out of school which gave me more time to conduct more research. The extent of my obsession borderlines madness.

Understanding people, crafting deep and intriguing characters and creating a tangled web that ties them all together. And then learning the art of clues and understanding how to plant them.

That is my suggestion.

Reading mysteries can be helpful, but only if you are analyzing them while reading can they be truly helpful in understanding the craft. What makes them work?

Or for ones you don't think are good, why don't they work? what are the faults so you can try to avoid these with your own mystery.

That would be rather bland... If I were Willard I would say it lacked 'heart'.

A good murder requires a cast of equally suspectable characters all with a unique motive.

Every mystery should be constructed from the ground up for it's 'trick'.

Don't just read a mystery novel, deconstruct it, you need to abandon the thoughts of the detective and take control as the author.

First think of your trick or tricks and find ways to implement them, you should begin with the 'truth' or answer and then find ways to cloud the truth with ambiguity.

Then work on your detective. What is he like? What is his signature technique? What are is personal feelings on the murder and overall what kind of detective is he? Introduce either before or after your supporting cast/culprit.

Once you have established that much you need to set up your traps to fool the detective and give each character a reason to be your culprit. As the story progresses you should slowly exhaust your 'traps' until you are out of 'traps' and then reveal whatever big 'trick' you had under your sleeve.
Use your last trick, and then go the climax of your story and reveal both the culprit and the truth, then have some slight banter between the detective and those added possible culprits.

So this is the place, hmm. I figured Kinjo wouldn't lie to me, his testimony seemed pretty irrefutable, judging by the line of logic already drawn. Yes, this would have to be the location. (Seems there's a lot of people who know about detective work, and mysteries, hope they're nothing like Gumshoe. I guess i'll approach the little girl first. If I recall Kinjo said he had a personal relationship with a little girl here) Hello, little girl. You were wondering about how to make a mystery, correct?
