There were a number of considerations that went into the resolution:

1) Can't be higher than 480 because lol Umineko sprites (I most certainly would use a huge resolution if I weren't doing that).

2) Needs to be a roughly widescreen resolution both for better video translation and to have extra space onscreen for sprites (I can semi-comfortably fit about seven!).

3) Needs to resample up to 1920x1080 semi-competently. Other resolutions I tinkered with didn't do this properly. The current resolution is an almost perfect 2.25x resample while also being appropriately widescreen. This prevents distortion going from windowed to fullscreen and makes 480p and 1080p look decent on YouTube as a bonus.

If I weren't using sprites that have a cutoff at 480 pixels of height I'd just do something else entirely. Damn you, tops of tall peoples' heads!

RenPy does have some issues with encoding with some of its more advanced effects (I use a custom Python-based rain script since I can't use the one that came with Umineko for example). I'm also semi-curious how the game itself performs on systems that are not godlike as mine is. But it's just a VN, right?

And yeah the boss is a bit grindy but in her second phase she tries to mess with your defense strategy.

Also I will look into fixing that, it's actually an issue with player itself and not my game...
