That's what I hope to do! I was considering the following changes:
- Davis route results in Davis convincing Rachel to try something new. Rather than become a teacher, maybe become... an artist? And find some guy to support her if she's uncertain about that!
- Meeting the kid route: continue as-is. Playing with the kid opens Rachel's eyes to how her approach had been fundamentally wrong and how she can have joy again.
- Meeting the Chinese lady: Rachel goes back home, finds a time capsule box. The letter talks about how she was going to be the best writer ever. Rachel pursues writing over teaching, or becomes a teacher who writes.
In this way there will be three different endings to the story, and it will stronger emphasise the importance of others in your life as you make your choices.
I still think it's not entirely as strong as it could be, but I don't think I should entirely rewrite it, if only for losing sight of my goal.
Better to focus on new things, after all!
