I was planning to do this before, but I guess I'll do it now since I have a small window of opportunity.
I would like to apologize for offending anyone for my 'critics' reply. I did not mean to attack anyone. I even tried to emphasize on the word 'some,' meaning 'not all' critics tend to be bad at what they criticize.
It can safely be said that there are some critics who are even better at what they are criticizing than the criticizee themselves can produce. Of course, those are the people who we want criticism from, if anything. To help improve what we are doing.
Which is why I said what I did say. To encourage a bit of empathy. We are all in the same position when it comes to writing. And yet we all sign a contract dooming us to inevitable criticism.
I never tried to get across that the writers of /seacats/ were bad writers. But that doesn't mean we are the best either. And even though it might be bad writing and we give out criticism for the better, we should at least try to place ourselves in those other writers' shoes. Because eventually, we will be there. Or we have been there. And we know it's never fun to be there.
Long story short, I apologize for offending anyone. Though I still stand on my empathy toward writers stance, I do realize everyone has the right to criticize. Just try to remember that someday, you'll be at the opposite end.
