Every morning, Kinzo woke up just as the sunlight began peeking through his window.

He heard his children chattering.

He felt the gentle breezes blowing.

What a lovely way to start the day!

“Blech!” said the old man as he sat up in bed. He hurried to put on his cape and drink his absinthe. “I hate sunlight and gentle breezes. But most of all, I hate the sound of my stupid children talking!”

Then the old man ate his favourite breakfast of burnt bacon, extra-rare goat, and a big glass of wine to wash it all down.

“Harump,” he said, when he finished. “Now it’s time for my summoning exercises.”

He tried to summon as he played chess. He tried to summon as he downed his absinthe. He tried to summon as he yelled at his stupid offspring.

Now it may seem to you that there was no time the old man wouldn't try to summon. But that is not true. He liked to worship Beatrice. His favourite phrase was, “OH DESIRE,” which made him popular all around /a/.

=========================

My weak family's second rate. I'm "eccentric" incarnate.
I jump out windows and catch fire. I like to yell out OH DESIRE!
I'm super rich, wealthy as can be. Nothing that you think about, can be put past me.
No One-Winged mark for Natsuhi. Now smile for me, OH BEATORICHE!

=========================

After singing his song,
Kinzo was ready for his
outdoor summoning exercises.
His servants were used
to his summoning.

They just greeted and said, "Good luck, master Kinzo."

"Humph," Kinzo answered and
walked all the way to Kuwadorian.

At the mansion, the old man sat in a chair
in the centre of the courtyard.
Then, he concentrated very strongly and waited.

Now, if you were concentrating and waiting
as patiently as Kinzo,
you would hear it...
a wicked cackle-cackle-cackle,
followed by a gentle flap of butterfly wings.

===========================

And if you were concentrating
very, very strongly,
without a sneeze, or a cough,
or a minor distraction,
you would hear a louder and more wicked
cackling laugh.

"Ah," said Kinzo.
"So you are back again."

And with that, there appeared
a crazed Witch in Gold.

Witches can take a long time
to get used to sometimes,
but the old man had waited quietly
and drew the witch into a warm embrace.

Then the old summoner's chin dropped to
her shoulder and he began to cry.
And for a moment they stood together,
the old man and the witch,
until she got a nasty itch.

When the Witch cackled and stirred,
the old man laughed and stirred too.

Then they both went wherever it was
they had to go until the next twilight.

============================

But one day something strange happened.
The old man concentrated as hard as usual.
He waited until all the siblings
took their children back home.

He waited until Genji the head servant
called him to come home.

He waited until the sun went down
and dark forest near Kuwadorian
was still in the darkness.
Finally, the old man went back.

The next day, the same thing happened.
"I wonder," said Kinzo,
"what has happened to my beloved Beatrice."
Then the old man began to worry.
He worried so hard that
he completely forgot about everyone else.

Finally, the old man knew what to do.
He had someone draw a picture of the Golden Witch. This is what it looked like:

=============================

Kinzo showed this picture
to everyone in the household.
"That's the Mistress of the Island!" said Shannon.
"They say she stalks the corridors at night,
but I haven't seen her ever."

"Hmmm," said Krauss.
"I can't be sure entirely,
but I think that's the Golden Witch.
I look at the epitaph below her every day
at noon, but I've never seen her before."

The cousins knew her too.
"That's Beatrice the Witch!" Maria cried.
"She gave me pieces of her magic of happiness."

"My, my," said his servant, Mrs. Kumasawa.
"That's the mistress, Beatrice.
I try to solve her epitaph every night,
but I haven't solved it at all.
I hope it can be solved."

"If she's a witch," said Battler,
"she cannot possibly exist in this world."

=============================

Sure enough, there were the orange and golden butterflies, who carried along a wicked and mad cackle
when Kinzo drew near.

The Witch in charge cackled
at the old man.
"I will kill your children for you," she said.
So the old man waited patiently
while the Golden Witch carried out her ritual.

It went:
<At the first twilight, you shall lift up as sacrifice the six chosen by the key.
At the second twilight, the surviving shall tear apart the two who are close.
At the third twilight, the surviving shall praise my honorable name on high.
At the fourth twilight, gouge the head and kill.
At the fifth twilight, gouge the chest and kill.
At the sixth twilight, gouge the stomach and kill.
At the seventh twilight, gouge the knee and kill.
At the eighth twilight, gouge the leg and kill.
At the ninth twilight, the Witch shall be revived and none shall be left alive.>
And with that, the old man and the Witch cackled together.

=================================

Every twilight, the old man
and his Witch visit the first six victims.
They give the Witch a laugh while
she and the old man have a round of massacre.

At the next twilight, they visit the two who are close.
Kinzo and his doctor share
a game of chess while the Witch
tears Jessica and Kanon apart.

Every twilight after the first, the cousins panic about the epitaph of the Witch
and curse the summoning old man.

And on the last twilight, Kinzo is torn apart
by demons, Goat-kun, while
the Witch whips her dog named Battler.

The old man is so happy that he has
almost stopped yelling completely.
Now he only yells OH DESIRE
if he runs out of his favorite cereal,
or if he can't find his socks,
or if the Witch has a headache on the day
he wanted to tie her to the bed.
But everyone yells OH DESIRE about those kinds of things sometimes,
because they're grumbly things.

Too many "happy" memories to be able to name a single "happiest"? I know I'm like that. I look back over my life and sure, there've been a lot of bad things, some hard times and painful memories, but it's not like it's all bad, you know? Hard times like those only make the good memories all that more special.
I don't think I'd ever be able to count all the smiles I've had, all the smiles I've seen or shared, even if I kept counting 'till the day I died. Because they're everywhere, you know? Among those smiles, those good times and the fun times, it's impossible for me to pick a single "happiest" from among them. I think that's how it should be. Memories like those are enough to keep me going even through the hardships. I think things like that are important in life, something to be treasured.

But well, that's just my take on things anyway. I'm sure other people have different opinions on the subject, but that's fine too. Everyone should live life in their own ways, I think that's one of the things that make it so special.

Happy memories? Well, first (and most important) on my mind in that regard is the time I spend with Lambda~ I still wish Lambda'd come back.

I've had a lot of fun in the streams and in the DnD games too.

Oh! There was that time I won the Magic: the Gathering regional championship. That was cool (nerd etc).

Getting to the end of Chrono Trigger was happy because I loved the ending but sad because I was very sad there was no more game. Yes, I teared up a bit.

I love cats! I have a cat, I think I've had her for almost 10 years now. She's super friendly and really cute, and I love playing with her because she really likes chasing the belt from my dressing gown when I drag it along the floor.
She's a bit of a weird cat though, never really liked being picked up or sitting on people's laps. That's actually fine with me though, I always did feel a bit uncomfortable with cats sitting on my lap unless they're still just kittens. Oh, which reminds me, my cat did have three kittens once! Those kittens were the most adorable things in the world. Two of them got into a lot of real mischief, but the other one was just the cutest thing in the world. He had this little smudge of black fur over one side of his face, so we ended up naming him Smudge.
That Smudge was just the best kitten ever. While the other two would run around climbing up the curtains, eating the plants, etc. Smudge would just sit by my side at all times purring and mewing and just being really, really cute all the time. He used to lay on my lap and curl up into a ball, sometimes he'd fall asleep, other times he'd roll onto his back and just look up at me purring. He was also a really playful kitten, I remember sometimes he used to lay like that on my lap and start having some sort of wrestling match with my fingers, trying to catch them and bite them, but not once did he ever scratch me or hurt me while playing like that.

Well, eventually we did have to give the three of them away, since keeping one cat was expensive enough. Smudge was the last one to go though so I got to spend more time with him than the others, and he went off to a friend of the family who really loved cats so at least I knew he was going to a good home.
Anyway. I've always been more of a cat person myself, never was too keen on dogs or most other pets. I only really have one sad memory about my cat, which was actually something that happened quite recently. She got a really bad infection in her lungs and the vet thought for sure there was no way she'd make it through, but I really did not want to give up on her like that so I payed for all that super expensive medicine and money for treatment and whatnot, and when she fully recovered from it the vet was just gobsmacked. She said it was some small miracle that the cat even survived after an infection that bad, she said usually she would have just recommended having the cat put down since there's little they can do in that situation even with the medicine except hope and pray. Well, I guess my cat got her skills of avoiding death from me or something. I guess this is what they mean when they say that pets resemble their owners, eh?

Whoa, 10 years!
I-I hope I get to have a cat for that long someday.
I've had a few cats. I loved them since I was really little. We had a neighbor whose sister loved cats, so their house was full of them! I liked going there and trying to carry them, which would often end up in me getting scratched all over. It was fun, though.
I also had a friend that had a lot of cats... she gave me two cats once. They had been strays and ran away pretty soon! I do hope they didn't get ran over.
A stray also started staying at our house once because my mom kept giving it food... my sister named it Crookshanks (Yeah, Harry Potter). She got into a lot of fights with dogs and didn't have an eye, but I loved her. She had kittens once, but she had killed them when we found them. She got ran over at some point.
Ahh... the area we used to lived in wasn't good for pets.
I lost a cat a few months ago. His name's Chester, assuming he still lives. He probably got stolen as he had left for days before and always came back.
I guess there is a possibility he might've died, as he had recently gotten badly bitten on his side by a dog. He was much better already, though... I don't know, I don't like to think about that a lot. S-still miss him etc.

I used to have a friend who had a lot of cats, too. She lived in a mansion with her dad and her brother, and something ridiculous like 20 cats. I used to go visit her sometimes and the cats were always EVERYWHERE. They were always great fun to play with, too. I had been friends with that girl for a lot of years, but during high school we just kinda grew apart. Haven't seen her in quite a while, shame too because we always got along really well.

My aunt also used to have a lot of cats. Some of them were feral cats, even! There were about 5 or 6 cats that lived in her house, and another 3 or 4 that either lived in or visited her garden very often. She used to leave food out in the garden for them to eat, so they always used to keep coming back after that. As far as feral cats go they were pretty tame, one of them used to go into the house sometimes if my aunt left the door open while she was doing the gardening or something.
My favourite of all her cats was called Socks because he was a black cat all over, except for his paws that made him look like he was wearing white socks. He was a lot like Smudge except a few years older, so I grew pretty attached to him and used to visit my aunt quite often to go see the cats. Most of them died a while ago, the only ones still around are a couple of the feral cats now. Well, most of them lived to be 14 or older, so they all lived good long lives.

I remember before I got the cat I have now, back when I was still living with my mother, there was a cat that used to come around to our house very often. He had a collar so we knew he belonged to someone, we just didn't know who it was that he belonged to. He'd come visit the house once or twice a week, he'd just walk right in the back door if it was left open and start wandering around the house like he lived there! My mother really liked cats too, so she started buying some food for him every now and then, and after that he just started visiting every couple of days. Eventually we found out that his name was Smokey, he was a gray cat all over except for his paws and a patch of fur just under his mouth that were white.
Smokey was a really silly cat, he used to jump into my mother's car whenever she was going to drive somewhere, and he'd sit either on the passenger seat or one of the back seats and not leave the car until my mother had to pick him up and not let him back in. I think we eventually did find out who his owner was, but I can't really remember that part very clearly. Anyway, he was the first cat I had actually looked after, even though he wasn't really even our pet at the time.

You know, now that I think of it, I have a LOT of good memories with cats. But you know what the real punchline is? I'm actually allergic to cat hair. Short haired cats are fine, but anything like those really fluffy cats that just leave fur everywhere they go? Nope, they cause me to start sneezing non-stop and my eyes start getting all puffed up and watery. I still love cats even though I'm allergic to them though, it's never really been too much of a problem, especially recently where it only really bothers me in summer when my cat starts shedding her coat.

Ahhh 20 cats!
Allergic, huh? That's too bad, but if it's not a problem all the time, it's okay, I guess~
I don't think I'm allergic. My mom hates all the hair, though. I used to brush Chester a lot and whatnot. Orange tabbyyy
Socks sounds adorable.

Most of my good memories are... with family. Especially with my dad and oldest sister. Some nice ones at school with friends and teachers, too. I haven't had too much interaction with cats, really. Maybe there will be more in the future!
Some good memories on the computer, too. With choco etc. ;;

Here's a happy memory : I remember the times I won those AMV contests at the conventions I went to. All that applause was for me. It made me feel giddy and eager to experience that sort of thing as much as possible.

It might not mean much to anybody else, but for me that was a pretty good moment.

Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It's our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red

I am the one hiding under yours stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair

This is Halloween, this is Halloween

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise

Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can
Something's waiting now to pounce, and how you'll...

Scream! This is Halloween
Red 'n' black, slimy green

Aren't you scared?

Well, that's just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take a chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night

Everybody scream, everbody scream

In our town of Halloween!

I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace

I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?"
I am the wind blowing through your hair

I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Halloween! Halloween!

Tender lumplings everywhere
Life's no fun without a good scare

That's our job, but we're not mean
In our town of Halloween

In this town

Don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise

Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back
And scream like a banshee
Make you jump out of your skin
This is Halloween, everyone scream
Wont' ya please make way for a very special guy

Our man jack is King of the Pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King now!

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

La la la la-la la
