It's probably alright to break the rules every year or so.

The pessimistic say it's one year closer to death. In your case, wouldn't it be more like a year after? Whether we like it or not, though, your heart apparently still beats, you still live on in one form or another. How far have you come - how much have you learned - in these brief years? What partings and goings have you shared? And for how long will it continue?

You still live for something, it seems, so I'll acknowledge that. Just don't get the wrong idea. I just happened to come across an extra image, and this cake was actually for another occasion in a few hours. So it's not like I went out of my way. But it's only fair for someone to wish you a happy birthday. Some people have forgotten it was even today.

...Looking back, it's been close to a year and a half since I've started posting on /seacats/.

Perhaps, due to bad experiences, I was somewhat apprehensive of posting in /teaparty/ initially. The seacats back then seemed so ... foreign and intimidating, like Mion and Piece.

Nonetheless, I took Lion's advice and started chatting more in /teaparty/. It was nice, to be able to talk to people casually again. However, as time went by, it started to get old. The constant use of 'How was your day?' became somewhat annoying and repetitive. Boredom was starting to sink in.

At that moment, Bern appeared with her single closed room mystery. Although I came nowhere close to the answer, it was one of the few games that I truly had fun playing.

I'm sure everyone remember when our old ib4f site was sealed and locked up in the infinite blackness of the Nether Regions. At that point, I was worried for the future of /seacats/, and the newfound friends I had. Yes, there were various mediums of communication to talk to them like Msn etc, but it would never be the same as an imageboard. Were it not for the streams and this new board, I would have left /seacats/ for good.

....What can I say? I like the streams.

I like reading the walls of text between Belphe and John.

I like teasing Mack about baguettes and her being a fuwa fuwa dyke.

I like typing about the lewd stuff I would do to Lambda.

I like it when Rin goes all nerdy since I've never met a nerdy dyke and it's darn right amusing.

I like watching streams with Knox. She's so crazy and silly all the time.

I like stalking from time to time, like digging out Kinjo's cosplay picture for blackmail.

I never did see the point in samefagging, no idea why Piece does it all the time.

All in all, thanks for tolerating my lewd tendencies and harsh words, seacats. I never intended to be a lewd slut mocking and cursing everyone in sight, but it can't be helped. While I have no idea if I'll still be around to see seacats hit the third year mark due to commitments, the fun times with everyone will definitely be left to rot somewhere in my heart~ ♥

Not tsun.

I, for one, think seacats is a cesspool of stupidity, an endless maelstrom of dolor that brings suffering to all who frequent. I abhor all of you and all you stand for, and would love nothing more than to see you squirm and squeal under the onus of responsibility.

Chief among them I hate George, whose lack of tact is more insulting than his face, and that says a lot.

Then there's Astaroth, whose heedless puns make me ache with sadness for this world that gave birth to them.

There's Hidei, unrelenting in his... his... I have no word for it, but surely it cannot be positive.

To speak nothing of Bernkastel and her creepy stalking, that incessant need to dig up people's pasts when they desire it hidden from sight.

Anon-kun and his heedless murder of the English language, the vulgar rape of a medium so divine, the subtle castrations of meaning themselves, torn so far from what the world intended.

And Rin, whose masosadistic tendencies are a blight upon this world itself.

To say nothing of the tiresome other members, all whose acquaintance I am sad to have made, although the grief is lessened by the small degree to which I've come to know you despicable plebeians.

I hate you all.

Seacats is for me a very important place, even with all the constant problems and drama we have.
The other day I tried to keep out of seacats for a day, and damn it was quite hard. I'm so used by now to refresh teaparty and limbo and make some silly posts than I failed in the end.
Anyways, what I want to say is than I appreciate every one of you, even the people who don't post anymore. And I hope we continue with this place, even if Umineko was finished a long time ago. Heck we could morph this place into a Ryucakes rants/general or something, right?

I like how I'm constantly being included alongside other people. Not sure whether to feel good about that or sorta left out, man. Well, that's fine too, I guess.

Contrary to my reputation, I'm not going to write up a wall of text here. Through the good points and the bad points I'll just say that, well, I suppose there are a lot worse people out there that I could've been killing time with this past year or so.

To me, you're an existence unique amongst /seacats/, so I could never group you with anyone else.

And if I had to group you with someone, then it would be me.

To be fair.

Um, well. Choco started talking a lot about you guys, one summer day a not-so-long time ago~~
Eventually, I got the link, and I lurked for a long time!
I remember my first post was a reply to mack saying I was younger than her.
I kept lurking after that though, and even after starting to post as Cirno I wouldn't do it much and lurked, mostly.
I... probably lurk a lot, even now.
I don't know a lot of you guys and since I never got on a lot I didn't get to know those that have left. It feels like I've missed a lot and I wish I knew some of you better!
I only know a handful, heh.

I was surprised when I saw myself in https://archive.seacats.net/image/src/130842622466.png and https://archive.seacats.net/image/src/131519748641.png, as it feels I was hardly ever a part of /seacats/ and still feel a bit detached now. Mack sometimes linked me to her streams, though, and even then I'd just lurk. Choco invited me to streams sometimes but I'd usually do other things also I think I'm typing too much. ;_;
UH
FENI AND MAK AND CHOCO I RUB YOU
choco I rub you most
J-joji, thanks for being so welcoming and watnot
Shrimp and lion, you guys are cool!
Th-the rest of you, I could say stuff, but this feels like it's pretty long? Aaaa
UH
THIS IS SUDDENLY AWKWARD.
Choco I love you ;_;

Good evening, seacats. I guess I'm a bit late to the festivities, but better late than never, right? I suppose for tonight it would be most appropriate for me to assume a more humble form than I've grown accustomed to as of late.

I'll admit i'm at a bit of a loss for words looking back over the board's now two-year history. The fact that it's managed to survive for such a length of time is a feat in and of itself, especially considering that for a decent period of that time there wasn't any board to speak of at all; it's a decidedly impressive accomplishment, and one that really does serve as a testament to the board's sense of community.

I think though, that what impresses me the most about it is that no matter what your opinion of /seacats/ may be, or what you consider your place within it to be, you can't deny that it became so much more than just a simple Umineko discussion board. Be it through the extensive and equally ridiculous philosophical debates, the trollfests which so routinely populated livestream chat, or even the simplest of exchanges taking place on /teaparty/, the board really did take on a life of its own, in turn giving rise to a multitude of different events and possibilities which would go on to impact the board and its members in so many different ways.

I've often wondered how each of our lives would be different had the board's creation never come to pass. Would those lives be altered only slightly, proceeding more or less along the same path as they are now? It can be tempting to say yes, after all, most of us would probably still be attending the same universities or going about our business much as we are now, but beyond that, can we really say anything with confidence? For someone like Kinjo, had he not encountered the board, would he have possessed the drive to complete a second, third, and eventually forth fan-episode? Maybe, but even if he did, they'd almost certainly have ended up vastly different from their current incarnations, and the lessons in both writing and coding he'd have learned from each one's reception would differ just as intensely.

In this sense, I think we each owe quite a bit to /seacats/ and the people who populate it. Even through the most casual of associations we're invariably changing the progression of our lives in one way or another, if only by the tiniest of degrees. After all, I doubt there's a single person here that can honestly say they've never applied a seacats-related experience or bit of knowledge to one facet or another of their daily life. In the end, whether we admit it or not, we've each been affected in some way by this humble imageboard's existence, and regardless of whether you consider that a positive or negative thing, you can't argue that it isn't real.

Even if I don't post as often as some others, I'm genuinely grateful for the time I've spent with everyone at /seacats/, and it's something I don't plan on forgetting. I think Anon put it best when he said that it's a rather difficult place to stay away from. In the immortal words of a certain endless physician, "there were no bad people," and considering just how many seacats there have been over these last two years, I don't think there could be any greater compliment one could bestow upon a random collective of internet anons.

Ah but this old furniture is getting too sentimental, so i'll digress from my rambling and give you your present. Above is a link to a special folder I've compiled which includes about fifty or so of my favorite stream-related moments taken from my personal archive, along with a little extra something which I made long ago, but never found reason to post until now, intended as a personal thank-you to George for erecting and maintaining the site whose birthday we're now able to celebrate.

It might not be much, but I hope they manage to fill you with a sense of nostalgia as you look back fondly over days gone by.

To all seacats, both past and present, Thank you, and Happy Birthday.
