Like the others said, it's mostly better for lower-end or older PCs/laptops. I haven't used it since back when I was still on my laptop so I don't remember how to configure it, but I remember some guide said "not to install the Haali Media Splitter" that comes with CoreAVC.

Then install the latest CCCP, and uncheck H.264 under FFDshow video decoders. I dunno if CCCP's site is down or what at the minute though since I can't get on it, so you might need to use a download mirror if you don't already have it installed.
