Kai's expression didn't change as he led her outside to see the whole. She crossed her arms behind her back, nodding approvingly. "I see," she said. "Clever. It is likely a trap, but you are doing well in testing the boundaries. Shall we keep up our charade to avoid drawing attention once we return?"

"Sounds good. I'm counting on you to keep me safe. And not kill me...."

We'll head back to the cafeteria, assuming we're done here.

Kizami enters the cafeteria and begins eating, after a while he comes over and talks to Aurora for a moment. They are close enough you overhear.

"Hello, Miss Aurora, if you don't me calling you that? What do you make of Monozaki's announcement?
Do you think anyone will attempt a murder with no visible way out of this? It seems hard to believe since that's about our only motive at this point in time, but I wager that he might try something if nobody makes a move, which means that we need to think of a plan of action before that happens."

Aurora smiles. "I don't mind what you call me, as long as you're nice about it. As for the announcement? I don't make much of anything of it. Like you say, I'm not all that worried that we'll start popping off and murdering people."

She takes her last bite of salad, then stretches. "I mean, aside from the fact that we're in a place we don't know with a bunch of strangers, this is a pretty comfortable location. I'm planning on continuing to look around, see what there is to see. Just because all the bear's totems have been found doesn't mean we've seen it all, after all. Maybe there's a way out he doesn't know about or hasn't thought of."

Kizami smiles in turn. He is finishes his food now and bids the group farewell. He then leaves the cafeteria.

After a few minutes Aurora gets up too. "Well, if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to continue looking over this place. After all, totems or not, there's things to see. Perhaps yet another way out that even the bear doesn't know of. Still, even without, I can't say I'm particularly displeased by the surroundings. You all are more than welcome to come with, if you want."

She then leaves the cafeteria as well.

I turn to Kai. "Meet at the hole in 5 minutes? I need to check something real quick."

Then I'll get up and walk out.

I find a pen and paper. I'll buy them from the gift shop if I have to. Then I'll write a note.

There is a poem on the front of the page. It reads:

[As I dig holes I cannot help but feel
That perhaps I am digging to the one I love.
For as I move the very earth beneath my feet
So too does my heart move towards you.]

On the back, there are a few sentences written. "Keep it secret. I am digging a hole beneath the fence. Ms. Kai will be my bodyguard so I am not murdered while digging."

I'll head towards the Guest Room Building. If I run into any girls along the way, I'll hand them the note. If not, I'll slip it under the door to Aurora's room.

Then I'll head over to the hole

"The ultimate botanist?" Kai asked sternly, nodding. "Good. Andy, my apologies for my earlier actions."

Mori returns with a shovel in hand.

"All ready now. Shall we head to the tunnel?"

I'll begin digging the hole 1 meter deeper (so it is 3 meters deep) and then start digging toward the fence.

You push aside the weeds and begin to dig down. The three of you start working together to dig which makes it go much faster. Andy easily throws the dirt out of the hole and into the garden. Now 3 meters deep you begin to question how you will get back up.

You all start digging to the east as it is the closet way to the fence until you come across a wall made of the same material as the fence. Looks like it goes underground too. Nobody can seem to make a dent in the wall. Looks like you won't be able to escape that easily.

You notice that it appears to be getting darker. Nighttime is likely almost upon you.

*yawn* "Wow, time flew by while we were digging. Kai, did you want to bury these tools to prevent their use as weapons? We can grab all the extras in the shed too."

"We could find a place to bury them, but you may be trusted with the tools of your trade. Perhaps keeping a shovel locked in your room to retrieve them would be useful. Or, should you need assistance, we could move all of them to your room."

"Very impressive!"

Mori smiles at Andy.

"As much as I love the garden, we should probably head to the guesthouse. It's getting quite late."

Kai gives Mori a nod. Although she doesn't say anything to her.

"I believe that is a wise choice. If only I had several of my own tools...." She trailed off, reaching for the empty holster at her hip. "I will do the digging, as it was my idea. You have done the lion's share."

Kai buries the tools in the big hole you all made. Most of the dirt in the pile is still there, but she fills up the hole to the surface and pats down the top. You also make sure to procure your single shovel before hand.

"Alright. It is now Nighttime. I hope you all remember the rules. There will be a wake up call in the morning so you don't miss breakfast. Sleep tight..."

It then clicks off.

Stick a chair against the door for good measure and go to sleep. If there is no chair, I'll try to use the shovel. If that fails, I'll just sleep.

I want to better understand the nature of the injury. I check the state of the body, is the head split open? Or was it blunt force trauma?

The body is lying face up with his legs slightly sprawled out as if he fell over backwards. Around the head area the grass is dyed with blood as it seems to have poured out the back of the head. Closer inspection of the head shows that he has a decent sized indent at the very top of his head that has broken the skin and skull inwards. There doesn’t seem to be any other important injuries on the body.

You notice a woven string made from plant material. It seems to be a support line for the gazebo and is loosely wrapped around his hand. You find nothing on his person, since after all, he is naked.

The wood isn't that dry. It seems to be stripped of the bark and cut within the past few days so the natural moister is still somewhat there. You note that it isn't a clean cut, but somewhat and the gazebo is in a similar way. The logs look like the same kind of wood used for the gazebo and it matches the trees around the area. In fact you can see some stumps in the forest.

You take a look at the so called gazebo that Hadaka said he was working on. Although it ultimately was left unfinished it is rather well made. It is missing the roof portion which you see next to the structure. It is unfinished and made out of more leaf like branches overlapping one another to reflect rain.

For the main part of the gazebo there are four logs embedded into the ground that have been stripped so they are more smooth. There is a square base for the roof to rest on at the top attached with woven rope to each log (the square on the map). High up near the top of each log are some notches that you assume would be used to tie the roof and logs together and nail the rope into the ground like a tent cover. There are three other woven ropes here as well that match the one near the body.

You head through the bushes and forest to the very back of the room where you find the entrance to the cave. There you can see it goes downwards a bit and turns the corner. It doesn't seem too dark however so you take a peak inside.

As you turn the corner you see a tiny wooden table on top of some tatami mats. There is a kettle and some cups. There is also a shitty looking tv. Oh and Monozaki is there slurping on some instant noodles.

Something tells you this cave doesn't have anything useful in it.

During the day I dug a hole in the northeast corner along the fence. I've discovered that the fence goes deep into the ground, so digging underneath it is a waste of time. I didn't do much else. Once it got dark, I went back to my room and went to sleep.

I didn't interact with or see anybody else. I'm a bit of a loner, and I'd rather not have to deal with people trying to kill me.

You do a little look around the area once you are standing there.

There is the gazebo of course which you have already looked at. Same with the logs next to it.

Besides that there are few handmade tools like sharpened wooden spears apparently used for fishing in the nearby stream since you see a single fish with a hole in it right next to it. There are some baskets beside that that which have been woven similar to the ropes that are filled with blackberries. Near the body is also a partially eaten sandwich. Looks like a nice BLT.

As you walk by the stream you see some nice little fishes.

You also happen to notice what looks like some sort of tool. On closer inspection it appears to be a stone axe. It looks rather well made considering the materials available and it has some woven string wrapping the stone which has been fitted into a hole made in the wooden handle.

Although described as an axe it is almost as short as a hatchet. That said is still has a decent weight to it and would do some serious damage. You compare it to the wound and find it to be a perfect fit.

You go up to the body and take a look. Naturally since she was in the water her hair is wet and her towel is soaked. Her towel has slipped off slightly but remains on her person. You notice there is a slight brown discoloration on the towel. The body still seems warm, but you know it hasn't been terribly long between exploration and freetime which would provide a better estimated time of death than rigor mortis. A couple of hours at best.

You don’t notice any immediate wounds. The face is a bit pale. Investigating the body more closely you see that under her towel is a red rash going up her back and up to her neck that branches off randomly in a tree like pattern.

When you look into the water you notice a coffee bottle from one of the vending machines outside the onsen. Now that you noticed it you can see the water around there is slightly darker and has some brown flakes here and there from the coffee spilling into the onsen.

Otherwise scanning the area does not seem to reveal much. You notice a machine gun turret on top of the roof. Seems like that is what the "immediate punishment" would be if you tried to peek to the other side.

When you enter the female changing room you notice a dry towel on the ground. You know this to be the towel Aiko brought into the onsen as she had to change into her clothing so everyone could investigate.

Otherwise you notice three of the clean towels have been taken out of the total eight, and that there is a wet towel with a slight brown stain in the laundry hamper.

You then head to the male side. You notice some dirt on the ground, which you recall was from you actually. You decide to a quick look around just like the female side and notice there is only one clean towel remaining. There are two on the ground that you know to be from Taku since Monozaki let him dry off and change into his clothing to investigate. There are five towels in the laundry hamper. You remember two of them were yours, and it seems the one on the top is drier than the rest.

The broom handle seems somewhat scrapped at the top where it was jammed into the door. You didnt pay much attention at the time but putting it back to where you found it seems to block the door from opening. You can also see a slight mark on the door where the broom handle gets placed.

You look around but fail to find anything you could personally meddle with. The onsen seems pretty natural overall. If there was anything like that it is likely only Monozaki has access.

Coffee bottle... Coffee bottle. I'll track down the vending machines that sell this brand of coffee and procure two of them. One I'll experiment with now and the other I'll save to use in the trial.

Pour it into a cup, check the color and texture. Especially looking for coffee grinds.

The vending machine seems fairly typical. It was completely full at first, so you notice there is only one bottle missing, from the same brand as the one you found in the water.

You notice it is one of those really sugary barely coffee like beverages and it has a number of chocolate flakes in it. These are a bit larger, probably since the hot water melted the ones you saw but you are pretty sure this drink matches what you saw in the onsen.

The stalls on the female side appears to have some suds draining from one, and the bucket and chair are a bit wet. None of the others appear used.

The male side has the one you used which is pretty dirty, and two others that are a bit wet.

You check the bushes on the female side. You search the bushes and notice some footprints behind them. You can not make out who could have made them since they have been brushed over but it is clear someone was back here. You also happen to notice a small part of the back fence where the dirt has been disturbed. The fence itself touches the ground and the dirt under the fence has been pushed aside to make gap that something could fit through. No larger than a fist. (Note this is the very back fence, not the fence seperating the male and female side)

I want to check out the hole under the fence in greater detail. This is my specialty after all. How compact the dirt is and it's shape might tell me the nature of the digging method. And traces or disturbances might tell me why it was moved this way. Surely it is not just meant to frame me...

You are pretty sure it was just dug out with hands since soil is kind of soft. It is an opening under the fence so... your best bet is that it was made to let something pass under the fence from the other side.
