“October 4th,1986, sometime in the afternoon when the family arrives, a “mysterious” guest makes an appearance to the family conference named Erika. A standard game in my eyes so far. Shannon/Kanon, who I’ll call Shkanon at times, decides to poison the dinner. To make things short and simple for sake of convenience, Erika manages to catch them in the act. She now has power over Yasu, threatening to reveal their charade to everyone, and detain them until authorities arrive. But the ever-gracious Erika decides to make an ultimatum for her own pleasure, Yasu is to take part in their death that night for a little mystery game and allow the mystery of Rokkenjima to live on forever---or suffer the aforementioned consequences.
Sometime later in the evening with the sunset almost over, the family decides to look at the rose garden one last time before the late typhoon comes in. While this is happening, Erika is placing normal, signed, duct tape seals inside of the guest house on all the windows (Push windows, not sliding) at approximately the same time, except she cheats a little. The seal placed on the window inside of Kanon’s designated room (She placed this from the outside as she never entered the room) and the window at the end of the hall on the second story (where she is at the start of the game) are placed only halfway on the inside window frame, thus when is pushed forward, then tugged back ever so slightly through a gap in the windowsill, the seals then are effectively in place. Once moved again once both sides of the sticky side touch the frames, are torn. Erika also places a role of duct tape, a long rope from the shed, and a long piece of string inside Kanon’s room on the shelf. She then proceeds to lock all the windows except the ones with only half seals, and walks back outside and sees everyone in a state of panic as the adults before them are foaming on the ground.
Erika manages to calm down the survivors, Battler, Shannon, George, Jessica, Maria, Genji, and Kumasawa, and persuades the group it would be best to sleep in the Guest House as it would be beneficial to stick together with rooms only across two hallways. At twilight, everyone huddles in the kitchen of the guest house (with a spare bed of course, which Kumasawa volunteered to sleep on.) During this time, Kanon and Shannon swap roles constantly as they are off to do something important, but as stated earlier, Erika knows the whole story as they dash to the closet, with clothes scattered everywhere in the room.
…Erika in the meantime even disarmed some bomb solving some little puzzle, hid all the guns somewhere in the shed, spoke to Shkanon in great lengths about the plan when they were alone, and knew the existence of Kinzo’s death status is something that doesn’t have to be given second thought. Shkanon was forced to play along on Erika’s terms for better or worse. Night approached, and fate was sealed.
Battler went to bed early in his room as we was exhausted from the shock, and didn’t give second thought if Genji was in the other bed, which he proceeded to lock the door behind him. Genji was on self-instated nightshift anyway, and snoozed off inside his chair on the second floor. Maria also went to bed right away in her and Jessica’s room.
It was approaching midnight, and the rest of the group, Erika, George, Jessica, Kumasawa, and Shannon decided it would be best to sleep soon. At this moment, “Kanon” said he was getting supplies from the Mansion for breakfast in the morning, while Shannon was sitting with the rest of the group in the kitchen. Shannon got up, and said she had to go to the bathroom. She walked through Kanon’s room, and turned the light and fan on inside once inside the bathroom.
The doors for the connected bathroom have a semi-special lock, (but not really, my house even has one.) which can be turned to the lock position while the door is open, and once close is effectively locked. Keeping that in mind, Shannon opens the entrance to George’s room, and locks and closes it while she’s in the bathroom as the lock is on the other side. Shannon proceeds to go into her closet and dresses into Kanon. As one last fleeting scratch on Erika’s power, Kanon draws an occult symbol on his door with some paint on his shelf, dripping red on the carpet next to the door. He exits the room and returns to the kitchen with a defeated face, as he said the kitchen in the mansion was empty to prepare for the fugu fish dinner they had earlier.
The waking group decides to head to bed. As the rest of the group leaves, Kumasawa locks the door for the bedroom/kitchen behind her and goes to sleep. Kanon walks Jessica to her room and exchange a parting good night. Jessica locks the door as Kanon exits, and then she sleeps next to Maria in the night. Erika heads upstairs to her room to briefly rest her eyes, and George heads to his room, and also falls asleep earlier (exhausted from shock) as he assumes Shannon is still in the lit bathroom. Kanon enters his room, proceeding to lock the door and sets the chainlock behind him… all according to Erika’s plan. Kanon transforms into Shannon again. She notices the semi open window, the seal still flapping in the wind below it. She takes the duct tape and rope inside the room on the shelf and follows her orders that Erika gave her early that previous day.
Shannon proceeded to place the long rope halfway on top of the rug on the floor (See the second map) next to the door in Kanon’s room, and put over ten segments of strong duct tape over the rope on the rug to assure durability. She tossed the rest of the rope and duct tape roll out the semi-opened window.
Something like this if you can visualize it top down: door-> ll [ --]-------------ll-- outside
Erika’s eyes flew open in her bed, almost making a shattering sound. She assumes everyone is sleeping with the doors locked behind them. (Her door is special, all the locks are on the outside from some construction error during the building of the Guest House, and so she escapes with a locked door this way from her room.) It’s around 1AM, she places seals on the side of everyone’s door including her own about the same time, all within a minute. Shannon is inside of Kanon’s room at this time, thus not in George’s room at the time the seals are placed.
Shannon knows it’s time as she heard Erika leave, and ties the string also on the shelf onto the latch lock of the opened window. Still holding onto the string, she enters the bathroom and locks the door behind her--the string still under the crack of the door. Shannon turns off the light and fan inside the room, and then enters George’s room with the string still in hand and under the crack, proceeding to lock the door behind her. (See map of lock placement).
This wakes George up, and Shannon tells him everything. He’s shocked, and can’t go through with the plan. They fight as Shannon prepares the final mystery, placing the key inside a sealed letter. It’s now around 1:30 A.M., the clock inside the upstairs hall chimes the short time, waking Genji up.
TL;DR: IMPORTANT PART OF SOLUTION:
Erika was ready for reaping. She goes outside into the now raging typhoon from the upstairs hallway with the semi open window (exactly like Kanon’s room setup), and climbs down the ledges to the ground. She grabs a single shotgun from the shed, and walks towards George’s and Shannon’s room. She threatens with violence for George and Shannon to follow the plan perfectly from the window; they comply in accordance to her demands.
Shannon and George part one last time, George unlocks the door to the bathroom and Shannon enters, and then closes it behind her in the locked position as she disappears forever, the string still inside George’s hand until the time comes.
Shannon enters Kanon’s room, and then changes into Kanon one last time. He grabs one of the wire hangers inside the closet, and slides it under the locked door, (as the seals were placed on the side of the door.) He proceeds to lay down, his head resting on the door facing the open window, the storm calling him into the skies. His body is directly on top of the carpet. During this time, Erika was fetching a ladder from the shed, and climbed back up to the second floor of the Guest House. Walking down stairs, she notices the placed hanger in the hallway as she instructed. She unravels it into a “U” shape,” and twists it under the door until she grips both sides of the “U” with Kanon’s neck in the middle.
She pulls until Kanon dies from asphyxiation.
(Something like this, imagine a profile of the body: door-> llO/_____ _ _ _ _ _/l\\ outside
Erika whispers under the door with a grin while pulling, “Wire hangers, why? Why?...You live in the most beautiful house on an island and you don't care if your clothes and costumes are stretched out from wire hangers. Hahahahahaha!!”
She begins phase 2 of her plan, and takes the bent wire hanger with her, gun still in the other hand. Erika walks back up the stairs, and then back down the ladder towards the opened window. Pulling the rope still outside placed earlier with all her might, Kanon’s body is dragged towards the window as his body lays upon the moving rug. His feet meet the wall, and the rug and rope slides under him out of the window. She puts the moving carpet aside outside in a dry area. Erika takes a step back, and fires one shot into Kanon, the bullets spraying into his body; in his chest, face, and neck. The blood covered his laceration marks, and the figure was emaciated as Erika preferred. She tossed the gun inside the room landing in his right hand, still smoking, almost like a suicide. Two thunder strikes, almost a miracle, hit the mansion and trees somewhere in the distance, causing extremely loud booms waking everyone up anyway. She also tied the hanger back into shape on the way over, and tossed it on the bed with the rest of the clothes blending in.
Erika pushed the window in slightly, making sure that her hands don’t pass the impenetrable barrier between the windowsill and outside. The air pressure brought the window back, effectively closing and sealing it as the other half of the tape grabbed on to the wall below it. She made her way over to the other room to the right, giving George the death glare through his window to pull the string. He pulled, and the latch lock moved into place, creating the locked room. He pulled a second time to make sure the string broke off of the window’s lock and hid it inside of his room, and then slid the letter with the key with all his might into left hand of Kanon’s shot corpse. She then pulled the tape off the rug oustide and tossed it aside.
Making her way up the ladder with the and into the second floor’s end window, she kicks the ladder out into the bushes below, concealing this mode of transportation with the rug in hand. As she enters, she runs downstairs and slips the rug under Kanon’s door.
She forgot to close the window upstairs! She ran back up, and saw Battler opening his door tearing his seal, continuing to walk down the upstairs hallway. Erika made sure to look busy and mutter something relevant, “The dead… stay dead…” or something to give her purpose to be by the window staring at the corpses outside. She locks the window and “pets the tape down”. Thus begins the description of the introduction as everyone runs out breaking their door seals, and Battler breaks the front door seal when he runs to get a cutter for the chain lock.
…
Although, I was going to say at one point Knox’s 7th applies. “The detective cannot be the culprit.” (But I threw all that away since I realized this is mainly a “How-dunnit.” game)
That’s because Genji was sitting in his chair pretending to read some Agatha Christie in the dark as the real Detective, unmoved with his master key in hand--shocked that Erika was running wet with a carpet and gun about four times, and he was unable to enter the room to completely examine the room by the end of the introduction.
Epilogue:
Erika was arrested thereafter thanks to special agent Genji, and Erika continues to become a controversial star for vigilante justice throughout Japan… as she killed someone who also poisoned a family…. Or something….”
All the actors take a bow, and
THE CURTAIN CLOSES
